Exposing the hypocrisy of journalists

Not using a particular media source means they have even less cause to treat City well.
Saying boycott them and they'll change is by no means certain to work.
You can just imagine Churchill in 1939 saying "The Germans have invaded Poland so I'm demanding that the Foreign Office cancels its subscriptions to all German newspapers".

His family is now being targeted by them. See the tweets above. I don't think we should waste time going after individual journalists online. If they tweet something or make a point, then we can respond by all means but the personal stuff should be avoided.

It would be more effective if City fans in their hundreds and thousands changed their own individual behaviour so that we don't buy papers, or contribute to their online articles.

Individuals sniping journalists who have Fleet Street newspapers behind them who can reach millions is like refugee children throwing stones at soldiers armed with live ammo and jet fighters.

Our strength is numbers. Do not give them any more of your money or comments. That will be a start, and quite an effective one. They are employed after all to make waves and generate revenue for their owners. Well simply kill the waves, and stop giving them your revenue by changing your activity.

Post-match 100s of City fans would normally comment in national newspapers. Stop. if you must comment, do it on Bluemoon, other City forums, Villatalk, fan sites, the BBC, anywhere but national media owned football sites.

The objective is to win the propaganda war and to hurt them financially.

I see it differently.

Rabin has targeted the lies & agendas of the journalists. He’s succeeded & done this under anonymity, who cares. Well it seems the journalists do, they’ve never once argued with Rabins points, they’ve argued against his Avatar, concerned fan & said personal things to smoke or prove he isn’t who he says he is.

so Fcking what.

I don’t care who calls them out, whether it’s Khaldoon or Pete the badge.

when they have an answer to the points raised then I’ll listen but calling someone names under anonymity is nothing to care about.

Delaney is employed by a leading newspaper (although it's shit). They have a code of conduct that, among other things, governs their employees' behaviour on social media. As far as I can see he's breached that code in numerous ways in his interactions with Rabin. He needs to be dealt with & we should all be putting in formal complaints to his paper to ensure they sort him out.

Sacked in the morning.

Well we're not in armed conflict are we. We're a fanbase discussing how to deal with media coverage. I'm not calling on anyone else to help City. I am asking City fans to stop criticising the media in one breath, and in the next practically supporting them by contributing to their journalism.

If you have a better solution, I'd like to hear it.

To be honest it will probably not work but at least fans who get upset by the coverage wont be ‘casting a vote’ for its continued production.

The positive coverage we get, like the Mirror piece on Silvas goal, should be shared and supported but bizarrely that gets posted and few people comment on it.

It's a flippant and silly comparison. Economic boycotts can be effective

A fair press and a biased press are two separate matters.

I get what your saying & I no longer listen or read but I don’t think it has a difference whilst a billion plastics take my place.

Fair point. Mostly, it's not as simple as "we're not involved so they lose out" as there is a vast amount of interaction which is gained by a negative piece which (presumably) will more than counter it. Businesses needing support will move towards the supporters.

It is a bit odd about good stuff being glossed over. Maybe we just like moaning!

I think it just shows how people are driven we all moan about negative coverage about City, but as individuals, putting football to one side, we seem to enjoy negative content whether its about the Royal family, celebrities, politicians, sporting heroes etc. Were a depressing lot really.

Please do not make comments like this. It is damaging to the image of Manchester City fans and people like CityRabin.

If you think calling Castles an ugly **** on a forum he doesn't even read (which isn't even an opinion really, it's a fact) is damaging to City's fan base, you need to turn off your computer, go for a walk, and live in the real world for a bit. Nobody cares what I write on here and nobody give a fuck what you write either and within extremes, it's definitely not gonna 'damage the image of City fans' ffs.

Ha, yes, I blame the weather.

At the moment individual City fans get fed up with what they are reading, do one and meanwhile someone else comes along and takes their place.

Few people read the Sun on Merseyside. Lots of other football fans follow suit. Their boycott damaged the reputation of the Sun amongst football fans. There's no reason we can't do likewise.

If we're plastic, we'll carry on doing our own thing. If we are an organised fan base we'll come up with something. Until someone comes up with a better idea, I suggest boycott the press and no comments on their sites.

Right, that is twice you have damaged my reputation. I can hardly look family and friends in the eye after your latest outburst.

I think the ignore them approch does work. Talkshite is a good example. Several times I've heard them set bait by trying to wum City fans and quickly moved on when their phone in resulted in silence.

Yet again you consider it a zero sum game; fair, balanced and impartial coverage is what people want which should include criticism when warranted. I accept there are some spurious and even pathetic examples on here sometimes but you still continue to sneer and bemoan people not commenting on the positive pieces.
It's missing the point; highlighting inconsistencies should the focus of this thread.
Delaney, McKenna etc should be called out and more.

Agree with regards this thread but as a wider point, across the forum and, prompted by Marvin, has deviated to how our press coverage can be improved and so yes, I will bang on about positive articles not getting coverage because if we want improved coverage that is one way of promoting it.

Its pretty much written on every page of this thread how the press is influenced by clicks and so favours Pool and United and writes negatively about City yet we still promote the negative articles and ignore the decent ones.

As for Delaney and McKenna I doubt half of the forum even knew who they were before they started getting commented about on here. Done their notoriety and no doubt twitter followers a world of good.

If people think he has broken the CoC then this is exactly what people should do. Screenshot the tweets, so he can't delete them when he sobers up, make formal complaints to his employers, ESPN and The Independent.

If he's sent inappropriate DM's, include screenshots of those as well.

If he's not broken the CoC then he's just a twat, and there's nothing you can do, twats exist, ignore him on social media, don't engage and don't read his articles.
