Extreme Web Laws

The UN should pass a resolution that the Internet stays free from government intervention with regards access to material.

It's the last genuinely free place in the world. It's brilliant.

Its a sharing network. If you've watched a dvd and you've liked it would you give to your friends to watch it?Same thing with books, and music. As long as the people who are sharing the content are not charging( if its not their own) then there is nothing wrong. Is it illegal if my buddy gave me all his iTunes songs, or let me watch his movies? Anyways, people will always find a way to use the internet to its full advantage, and no low will stop people from downloading. Get can't possible let the internet providers block websites.

err... actually yes it is!

There is a big difference between lending your friend a cd or a book than it is say walking into HMV and putting a cd into your coat pocket... a massive difference.

Sharing is Caring.

Thanks to all those who have signed the petition and or sent an email to their local MP.

Remember guys even if you don't share music/films etc: these laws still affect you as in this legislation it clearly states that these companies can have the right to block you from visiting websites.
This takes away your right to access content of interest.
What Next? blocking websites that have a political message that goes against the government? like China?

The UK isn't China is it?

No, my point is that this isn't how our Parliamentary system works; nobody can get a law in this quick.

It has to go through periods of consultation, spend time as a draft bill, go through Standing Committees, etc, etc. Then it has to get through the Commons, then the Lords. All of this takes time, and cannot be circumvented.

Also, this whole campaign is bunk, show me the evidence of Mandelson wanting to push through a bill that will 'cut off internet access to libraries and schools'.

Isn't that how Napster fought the charges againt them?

If this law gets on the statue books, I wonder if the ISP's will be asked by the Prem to cut off people watching football streams?
