Get some 6m lengths of small bore plastic drain pipe, tape em together, and use it to poke away and destroy the nest. Keep doing it and they and they will go somewhere else. Its what they do on the big country estates.

As they only lay eggs once a year, if everyone was to do this over a few years, their numbers would drop considerably.

Theres no nest as such yet but they are coming and going with big twigs that's why I want to get rid of them before this nest gets built proper, your idea is sound though if it getr built that's what I will do, fuckin right at the top of the tree though

We have about 15 magpies living in our yard, they must be different than UK ones as ours aren't noisy, but they are funny the way they roll about sort of wrestling with each other.

Its the crows I cant stand, noisy fuckers

They are different birds mate, the magpies in oz are a lot bigger and as I was shocked to find out enjoy attacking humans on bikes!

I love the kookaburras that we get though, their 'laugh' is brilliant.
