Help! I have moved flat before Christmas and the bastards have followed me, the last few mornings a pair have started to build a nest in a tree right outside our bedroom window
They are in the very early stages and I have been out trying to scare them away but they seem determined that this will be their tree
Anybody got any tips on how to scare them away for good before they get this nest finished
Also isn't it a bit early for Magpies nesting?

Get some good quality ear plugs, and enjoy the show - Magpies scrap with everything in my garden, squirrels, cats, other birds - I could watch them for hours the bastards :)
Not at 5 in the morning they are driving us and the old dear in the flat above mad, iv just been out and smacked the tree trunk with a saucepan and they fucked off but were back 5 mins later
Its only February for fucks sake whats going on?

We have about 15 magpies living in our yard, they must be different than UK ones as ours aren't noisy, but they are funny the way they roll about sort of wrestling with each other.

Its the crows I cant stand, noisy fuckers

They are different birds mate, the magpies in oz are a lot bigger and as I was shocked to find out enjoy attacking humans on bikes!

I love the kookaburras that we get though, their 'laugh' is brilliant.

Get some 6m lengths of small bore plastic drain pipe, tape em together, and use it to poke away and destroy the nest. Keep doing it and they and they will go somewhere else. Its what they do on the big country estates.

As they only lay eggs once a year, if everyone was to do this over a few years, their numbers would drop considerably.
