On a positive note. A Perez win is always easier to digest than a Verstappen one.

And Alonso what a driver. Doesn't matter what car you give him he'll get the best out of it.

Hopefully he'll be in Motorsport for years to come. Another F1 win would be lovely, a few bites at the Indy 500, Dakar Rally maybe even the Daytona 500 etc. He's so talented that he could be in contention for any of those events
Take it your not a fan of max ffs

Well I was backing him in 2021 to end the Hamilton borefest. Problem is that he's now become the clear dominant driver and we seem to have gone directly from one period of domination to the next.

So to hope for balance in the championship I'll be supporting the others trying to catch up.

I don't really like any of the drivers or teams more than others. It's close racing, interesting cars and a close championship that I'm more interested in.

What an absolute joke that penalty for Alonso is with the jack. Absolutely robbed.

And I’m not even an Alonso fan at all.

He’s been robbed twice today.

Utterly ridiculous that it took so long to decide. Surely its a factual thing that was officially timed. They either did it or they didn't. Why wait till after the presentations etc.

Agreed. Fernando was clearly cruising in third, managing the car beautifully. When there was a sniff of a potential penalty at the end he very easily pulled a second on George Russell who was driving out of his skin to get the gap over 5 seconds.

Had he known it was going to be ten seconds, no doubt he would have made the gap happen.

Utterly ludicrous decision to punish the driver for a jack essentially tapping the rear diffuser.

Go to bed with Alonso on a 10 second penalty and wake to news he is back 3rd.

The sport is becoming a joke. The Jack was on the fucking car, they broke the rules. I love Alonso but it seems the rules are now literally so wishy washy and vague they can punish or let off whoever they want.

It's a dumb rule. Alonso shouldn't have been punished, neither should Ocon.

Special mention for the black/white flag for Hamilton for 'weaving'. It's like red cards for aggressive walking. These sort of dumb penalisations are killing the sport.

F1 was good a few years ago we now have the Red Bull dominance I would love to see how they will go if they let the 2 drivers race each other they will side with Max but if Perez wins another 3 to 5 races then will they let them race?

Also good to see Aston up so high so far I hope it aint a flash in the pan we need to see Red Bull being pressured by someone. IF we can get Aston and Merc and Ferrari going and pushing them thne it might be good.

They should do something to jazz it up. Like those wheels with the daggers sticking out, oil deployment, machine guns or a decent death ray.

Also having only one person per car is boring. There should be a gunner at the very least if not a bomber/navigator.

Also the pit crew don't look half as threatening as they could do. I'd recommend flick knives and chains.

And I haven't even got to topless, bottomless, etc etc

Let's make this F1 season the very best BOOM!!!

I don't know how any of you can take F1 seriously after 2021 fiasco. I've barely watched it since.
Part of me was hoping for redemption from that. Sadly it isn't.

Liberty media seem to want to take bigger chunks of TV revenue from the US. More races there to chase their goal. Will Vegas work? Maybe to their domestic audience. The rest of us I'm not sure. People went apeshit over Sochi getting a GP claiming political interference and promotion of Russia. Which is what Vegas be doing for the USA.

Max has a clean shaven, win at all costs attitude they like and they are happy to facilitate his temper tantrums as it keeps the brand happy. Even Perez little dig at Alonso after the race was for the Tele more than the actual racing.

Drive to survive has also warped people's (including mine) view of the sport.

Don’t think it’s a silly rule at all as it is a penalty.

You can’t work on or touch the car for 5 seconds it’s that simple.

Having the jack up against the car breaks that rule imo.

It's embarassing that iwthin about an hour AM managed to find 7 recent examples of the rear jack touching a car under drive through penalty and it not being penalised.

But this bit -

"The alleged representation of an agreement between the FIA and the teams that touching the car in any way, including with a jack would constitutre working on the car [...] was incorrect and therefore the basis of the Steward's decision was wrong."

- is 10x worse, the FIA making fools out of themselves and the sport.

How was F1 good a few years ago?

Mercedes went through *the* most dominant period in F1 history. Seven straight drivers and constructors championships.

Apart from a few half seasons when Ferrari got their act together it was largely a procession for the Silver Arrows.

Agreed that we desperately need closer competition at the front.
