It's not even that unusual a situation. Williams did the same tactic with Albon last season.
I'm a touch confused by your response. I was referring to multiple people crawling all over the pit lane whilst the race was going on, not the idea that a team runs long on one set of tyres and waits until the last lap before pitting for the mandatory change.

Yes I was actually agreeing with you. Just pointing out that the situation of a team pitting on the last lap has happened very recently so people shouldn't have been surprised by what happened. No excuses for people being allowed to run into the pit lane like that.

Ah, thanks for the clarification, Dan.

I was watching Sky live and the commentary was saying how the Red Bull crew were climbing on the pit walls which they said was verboten and then when Ocon pitted there was a press welcoming committee blocking the road.

I know that nobody was harmed, albeit perhaps startled, but it seems like a rather serious safety issue by the paperazzi. I can't comment on the Red Bull crew as I didn't see what they had supposedly done so I was hoping for some update.

He was whining on team radio all afternoon saying his diff wasn’t right and his braking wasn’t right blah blah blah.

He got beat so it has to be the car and not him or his team mate being better.

Fucking awful man.
I'm terribly sorry, I got this all wrong, Hamilton and well.......pretty much every other driver don't whine and complain about performance issues to their engineers or other drivers while out on the track.

Do you watch with the sound turned down?

He's a top class driver and has a car to deliver. I'm no lover of his petulant attitude from his younger days, or even his attitude last year during the Brazilian GP, but then again I can't really judge if I wasn't the one in his position. Checo may be in the same team, but he's still a competitor and to be at this top flight, there has to be a selfish attitude in your character. They all have it......even Lando.

But a fantastic world champion who will dominate for years.

Unless other teams catch up quickly this statement will be factually correct.
No, just the second half of the statement will be factually correct. A whining, snivelling, spoilt, brat without any saving graces will never make a fantastic world champion

Chuffed for Checo.

Shame his teammate found every excuse to blame the car and not congratulate him.
Verstappen really is insufferable. It's a shame he's a good driver in an amazing car.

Was hoping to see a little more competition from him this year, but it looks like it's only coming from Perez, so I'm team Checo it looks like.

He is a whining ****.

Never once said he isn’t a world class driver, just the man is a massive ****.

Interesting that Leclerc’s pole position lap in Azerbaijan is the first time the ground effect regulation cars have gone faster than what the 2021 regulation cars have. Meaning that engineers and designers are finding more down force, Which means the wash coming off one car leaves another car in dirty air and it even more difficult to follow. Have these new regulations worked and produced more exciting racing? It doesn’t look like it from what we witnessed last weekend.

Has Mercedes got there act together!?

Would be interesting to know how many drivers who have topped free practice 1 have gone on to get pole in that weekends race in the last year or so.

Yeah I’ve no idea the Second practice tomorrow will tell us probably if they are back or going to push red bull
