Everything the Mercedes has done and accomplished has been because they've bent the rules as to what is currently acceptable. This is why I ignored F1 for over five years.

Bending rules doesn't mean breaking them though. Teams throughout the decades have done so with the rules for as long as I can remember.

Unless the pecking order changes drastically post Monaco engine changes he's nailed on to win the championship.

It’ll be exactly like last season when everyone was expecting McLaren to drop off after the rear wing rule change midseason, nothing will happen. We don’t even know if they (or the other 3) have a higher a higher compression rate at high temps.

The entire story about them having it is from a junior McLaren engineer who left Mercedes for Red bull two years ago.

I think it will get more competitive anyway once McLaren works out when to recharge and get the most out of the engine. The big four will all be bringing major upgrades every week. Especially as they’ll have some extra weekends off with Trump’s stupid war.

Shame Lewis cooked his front tyres fighting with Russell which gave Charles an opening later on but he's rolled back the years this season hasn't he. These snappier cars play to his strengths.

Williams have been giving it the big'un for a couple of years about how they were basically abandoning the last season or two of the previous regs to throw all their resources to smash 2026.

The state of that car is pretty unforgivable, what have they been doing?

I like James Vowles a lot but surely serious questions need to be asked if they don't turn this around very quickly. That car is a big fat heap of shit. Sainz must be starting to feel like he's been sold a bit of a lie.

Exactly. What does "bending the rules" even mean? It's a nonsense phrase with no meaning.

It's an engineering competition, something is either legal or it's not. You play by the rules as they are written.

Ferrari and Mercedes read the rules word by word and designed an engine and a car around them. They deserve to reap the rewards of that. End of story.

Because I like my sleep I chose to watch one or the other. So went for the Sprint Race and I thought that was probably the best sprint race I've seen.

Then I flukily woke up at 07:50 and got to see the end of qualifying anyway. Early days but as more of a neutral I was hoping Russell would've stayed stuck in the garage!
