I wonder what’s going to happen if a car crashes like Bottas and Russell and are written off. The budget cap coming in its already put a hole in Mercedes’ development budget for this year, if there is more chance of accidents in sprint races it won’t help teams out improving the car over the season.

Each team is likely to be paid an additional $500,000 (free from Budget Capping) to offset additional expenses. I think actual amount is still to be agreed.

Yeah, shorter/less practice makes things closer. They're doing that already on normal weekends and a couple of times last season. It does save the teams money as less running but also mixes it up nicely.
