F1 Season 2021

Well in Max, Carlos and Lando.

Not great but, drama in quali, drama before the race, drama in the pit-stops and the championship closes up, and we have a new Championship Leader.

That's about as much as you can expect from a Monaco GP weekend IMO.

What is boring, is people complaining about boring races at Monaco. It's like complaining that water's wet, FFS.

it's boring shit and should be off the calendar, it's not a race it's a 90 minute parade.

Yawn.

Anyway, it won't be. Almost zero chance that they'll get rid of it. In fact I'd say it's the least likely to be binned off.

It's historic. It's unique. It's loved by the sport and drivers. It makes a fucking mint. It's one of the Triple Crown, alongside The Le Mans 24Hr and The Indy 500...

It's going nowhere.

Like I say, it's boring and clichéd to complain about it, but you crack on finding negatives in everything, mate.

Oh, and it's usually closer to 120 minutes. -)

yes, yawn. Exactly what it is. Yawn. Shit race.

It might have been more interesting if they'd had softer tyres. The best part were the pit stops, so to only have 1 was a bit of a bummer.

Sorry @1.618034, but I reckon I'd win the Monaco GP in my VW Tiguan 2.0d if I was to start on pole.

If the F1 competition is to be taken seriously, this race really needs taking off the calendar.

F1 is going to great lengths, and no small expense, to make itself competitive, to facilitate racing. It sets controls for this/that/the other in an effort to produce a spectacle, a race where brave, supremely talented men battle around a circuit, operating brutally powerful cutting edge machines, vying for position, where the gap between success and failure can be measured in 1/1000th's of a second.

All of that is utterly futile on a track that serves to cancel out every advantage of car and driver, to reduce a "race" to what is basically a fairground style carousel. You may as well sit a chimp in the cockpit of the cars for the effect it has.

The race only exists because, well, it does! Time has left it far behind. Perhaps it should be kept as a test race at the start of a racing calendar, no points are garnered, but crews can test and hone their kit, processes and procedures, and all the millionaires who go (very few else can actually afford to!) can have their parties in the casino's and on the super yachts in the marinas.
