F1 Season 2021

Only really got into F1 this and last season (lockdown inspired). Genuine question... Why does Hamilton polarise opinion so much? Just don't get it.
As a newbie, am I suppose to pick a team to support or a driver? I'm just taking it race by race at the moment.
Finally, how corrupt is officiating and towards which teams. I know F1 use to be nicknamed Ferrari 1. Is this still the case?

There seems to be the lazy assumption that anyone could win in that Mercedes, it’s like the lazy assumption that anyone could win with City’s money. Our friends in Stretford are testament to that not being true.

During Mercedes’ dominance during the turbo hybrid era only Nico Rosberg has given Hamilton a problem in the same machinery. Which shows how good he is, Russell next year could be a different story and will be will be interesting to see how that pans out.

First on the scene, Esteban Ocon - No waved flags - No light panels - Nothing on dash/steering wheel - Doesn’t lift off

Sebastian Vettel - Green light panel at final corner - Flashing yellow panel on main straight - No waved flags - Yellow warning light appears on dash/steering wheel - Backs off when dash/steering wheel warning comes on

Lando Norris - Flashing yellow panel on main straight but quickly stops - No waved flags - Nothing on dash/steering wheel - Doesn’t lift off (told by engineer it’s yellow but then green very quickly after)

Fernando Alonso - No waved flags - No light panels - Nothing on dash/steering wheel - Backs off himself when he sees Gasly

You have some drivers not being shown yellow flags and not slowing down even when Gasly was stopped. You have others who were only shown the yellow on the dash, others were only shown the flags. It was a complete mess.
Forgive my ignorance here, but is Max the only driver to be summoned to the stewards?

I watched the clip you put up and, as you say, he was literally at the incident before he was shown the flag.

Could it be that this a new track and as such the marshalls are inexperienced?

You can't see evidence because you're so desperate for Maxi to be reprimanded. Yes he may get a demotion for what happened, I'm not so blinkered that it could happen. It's in the stewards hands but all the outside pressure doesn't help.
I don't like Hamilton, I won't deny that, and I don't like Wolff after the way he's behaved these last few weeks but nobody should be above the rules as long as they're regulated fairly.
I know that I have disagreed with some of your posts but I concur with you on this. I haven't seen everything re the yellow flags it seems, on the face of it, to be harsh on Max. Maybe someone else has more on this but I don't want to see the championship being decided off track.

Being demoted 5 places is hardly “devising the championship off track”. Lewis did ok from 10th last week.

Car on the track stranded yet we will be told that the steward incorrectly waved double yellows and that there is no punishment.

It’s all about the Benjamin’s and the future of F1 commercially. Red Bull need the championship. F1 wants to give it them. As a new engine supplier teams will want a teams engine that has won a world championship. It’s all so predictable and it’s why it’s fucking brilliant watching Tito, Merc and Lewis who have seen what’s going on stick it to the lot of them.

Stone dead last in the sprint as well. Has Max been given a grid penalty? I don't get the 5 place reference.

It was more of a general sentiment regarding the politics that seems to be overtaking (:-)) the on track stuff.
