there's a certain section who don't like him because of some of those factors, because their media outlets like they do with Raz emphasise the negative stereotypes.

Most people not warm to him are because until recently he's never been a hugely likeable personality, he's not the happy go lucky charming personality of a Lando who's taken the fanbase by storm.

A bit like Tiger Woods and probably Schumacher to some extent, it's all a bit too clinical with Lewis at times. Recently though, with a real battle again and a real arsehole to fight against he's getting more and more people on side.

And there's the core British fanbase as well as certain international markets who absolutely love him, as proven by Silverstone, Interlagos and Austin every year.

I should add, there's also the Max fanboys who absolutely hate him, but like rags you just learn to leave them be.

Oh tell me about it mate. Everyone I know is there and 99% have zero interest in F1. Very annoying. I’ve done a few track days on this track also.

I’ll be going to Singapore next year though.

I'm sure Singapore will be a great vibe and spectacle even if the race itself is turgid. Like Monaco, it's probably one of those for the people who are there.
 
FIA's penalty makes no sense. Bottas gets 3 places (3rd to 6th), but then Max gets 5 (2nd to 7th), but Bottas still starts 6th...

So it's a 4 place penalty for Bottas which is unprecedented. Also makes sure he's dirty side so Max can get through at the start, so transparent.

What are you talking about? This is how penalties have always worked
If there was a conspiracy to favour Max then why give him the penalty in the first place? Makes no sense

If 2 drivers both get 15 place engine penalties then they don't both start 20th, one of them has to start 19th. So Bottas gets his 3 places, Max gets his 5 and Bottas gets bumped up 1 as his penalty gets applied first.

They've effectively given Bottas his 3 places, then give him another 1 to bump Sainz above him which means there's now 4 cars who placed behind him who are now in front of him, so he's had an extra place penalty.
