Money talks. I'd imagine the Saudis (and Qataris) have paid a container load of money to get these races. Which is a crying shame as there's fuck all F1 heritage in that part of the world. And I'm guessing there's not many genuine petrolheads in the crowds in that part of the world. I imagine it's seen as a social event, and the event to be seen at.
