Nope.My logic is impeccable. You cannot ascribe a whole season's result to a single round of a championship, however crucial that fixture appears.
If you analyse this F1 season, the reason Mercedes lost it was the several strategy fuck ups in the first half.
Had today's race not included the last lap controversy and concluded with a win for Verstappen, all the commentators would point to the points Mercedes threw away earlier. They do, however, love their clicks and controversy. I bet Mercedes back at the ranch analyse it my way. If they don't they are deluding themselves and missing an opportunity for improvement.
When some commentators were suggesting City were lucky to take the title when Slippy Steve gave a crucial goal away, the Pisscan, no less, said "City are worthy champions. It is decided over 38 games."
The whole thing was decided in the last 3.2 miles….by the Race Director.
There were many, many decisions made to put the drivers where they were when the SC came out.
If they let all the lapped cars through, there’s no last lap race.
If they let NONE through, then Max gets an advantage from the pit stop in that he has the tires he wants BUT it puts him behind a few cars that he will have to overtake (and will), but it will cost him.
What the Race Director did was GIVE VERSTAPPEN A FREE TYRE CHANGE FOR THE LAST LAP, THEN TELLS THEM TO “GO RACE” knowing the guy in front is on old hards, not new softs!!
You literally couldn’t make it up!
But, look at what’s happened…the F1 World Championship came down to the last lap, the clicks are flying all over the Internet and everyone’s talking about it!
Job done for F1! Christmas bonuses all around!
Maybe it’s time to switch to Extreme E racing, which is the future for Mercedes anyway!
