F1 Season 2021

My logic is impeccable. You cannot ascribe a whole season's result to a single round of a championship, however crucial that fixture appears.
If you analyse this F1 season, the reason Mercedes lost it was the several strategy fuck ups in the first half.
Had today's race not included the last lap controversy and concluded with a win for Verstappen, all the commentators would point to the points Mercedes threw away earlier. They do, however, love their clicks and controversy. I bet Mercedes back at the ranch analyse it my way. If they don't they are deluding themselves and missing an opportunity for improvement.
When some commentators were suggesting City were lucky to take the title when Slippy Steve gave a crucial goal away, the Pisscan, no less, said "City are worthy champions. It is decided over 38 games."
Nope.

The whole thing was decided in the last 3.2 miles….by the Race Director.

There were many, many decisions made to put the drivers where they were when the SC came out.

If they let all the lapped cars through, there’s no last lap race.

If they let NONE through, then Max gets an advantage from the pit stop in that he has the tires he wants BUT it puts him behind a few cars that he will have to overtake (and will), but it will cost him.

What the Race Director did was GIVE VERSTAPPEN A FREE TYRE CHANGE FOR THE LAST LAP, THEN TELLS THEM TO “GO RACE” knowing the guy in front is on old hards, not new softs!!

You literally couldn’t make it up!

But, look at what’s happened…the F1 World Championship came down to the last lap, the clicks are flying all over the Internet and everyone’s talking about it!

Job done for F1! Christmas bonuses all around!

Maybe it’s time to switch to Extreme E racing, which is the future for Mercedes anyway!

I'm neither "team lewis" nor "team max". Never really been that arsed about F1, though watched that as the eldest This! chap is. Just can't quite comprehend that disgraceful manipulation of a global event...

So a race director can pick and choose the winner of a race now. Dangerous precedent.

Hope this goes to CAS
On what grounds? The Race Controllers descretion supercedes all. That's the FIA for you. They did not want the race to finish under yellow flags and took what necessary steps were required within the rules to do so. Officially no FIA rules were broken.

I don’t quite get the rules of SC and lapping, unlapping, but it sounds like there was a pitch invasion with Hamilton winning the match. Ref takes them off the pitch, brings them back on and says next goal wins, oh and verstappen can have a penalty because that’ll keep the punters tuning in next season.

haven’t really watched F1 since Senna, Prost, Mansell and Piquet and it’ll probably stay that way.

I suspect that Lewis will retire from Formula 1 with immediate affect, it gives him the perfect opportunity to do so. A switch to E racing while he still has a few years left, it would certainly fit his profile better. Petroleum based sport backed by Saudi Arabia not really his thing I would imagine. As others have said it's probably on borrowed time anyway.

They did it to Senna in '89, Hill in '94...
