F1 thread - 2019 Season

Wow result stands

Inconsistent FIA.

Unbending upholding of the rules in Canada but let things slide in Austria.

Ferrari must be fuming.

Before any fanboys get upset, I don’t give a shit who wins.

I think Verstappen took him cleanly and LeClerc tried to defend from the outside line and turned in on the Red Bull and touched wheels, I would have been pissed if it had been overturned.

In what way are the two incidents even similar?

Last week Vettel lost control going into a chicane, left the track and then (deliberately?) blocked Hamilton when he came back on.

At what point did Verstappen leave the track? He got the inside line going in to the corner/apex and took the normal line from then on. Leclerc had already lost the place as his tyres were fucked. Ok, he had nowhere to go, but that's actually "racing". Not all overtakes happen on the straights. Thank fuck.

Anyway, what a shit race. Boring as fuck this F1 lark. They should all be in equal cars and 2CV racing is miles better, as is every bike race ever.

Oh, and FTR, I don't have F1 2019 or any other console games, but play Real Racing 3 on my iPad. No assists. Level 323.

What an excellent race, not a penalty but I will say I don't know where Leclerc was expected to go
On the outside or indeed brake, he was outmanoeuvred and lost the racing line, you can't defend what you no longer hold and let's be honest he could have taken both cars out and that would have been a bigger disaster than finishing second.

I understand he will have been wanting the win after a pretty much perfect race but sometimes you just get done by a brilliant move, his time will come soon enough and Verstappen also, future champions in the making, all dependent on where they get their next drives though lol

He did go around the outside. Verstappen just went straight on alongside him not too disimilar to Rosberg on Hamilton in 2016

After reflecting on the race I do see your point here.
In Canada the FIA decided to stick to the letter of the law rather than perhaps not take action in the spirit of the race. However yesterday they almost did a 180 from that, instead of sticking to the rules they decided to apply the spirit of racing.
I've no problem with either but I have a problem with inconsistency
