Feel sorry for the younger players partially Foden. Southgate hasnt a clue in how to play Foden let alone build a team around him. To win games you need to score, southgate is happy with a nil-nil or a one-nil from a free kick or penalty

Still good news for Maguire, Henderson, Mount, Sterling, Rashford, Kane.

It’ll be forever the same whoever the Manager is - modern way, half our fans want us to lose most games anyway, then scream and moan wanting change.

Another who completely fails to look at the context of those competitions where they invariably failed the minute they came up against a decent side.
I can accept a West ham fan being content with mediocrity but surprised when it’s a blue saying it.

The vast majority of fans want to be cheering a team on that's playing to its potential.

Southgates England have,mostly,fallen short when it's counted.

Which English manager (yep in my book the England manager should be English so that probably makes me a racist, bigoted, xenophobic, National Front supporting gammon to few on here - but I couldn't give a fuck as I'm an FOC) who is available and would take the job? Don't say Eddie Howe as he has previously ruled himself out and is not available. So who? No point in sacking someone if you don't have an upgrade as a replacement ready to go. I ain't no Southgate fan but he's the best we have got at present.

International football has evened itself out over the last decade where there are no real stand out teams, even france have pretty poor most of this tournament and scraped through the knock out stage.

nearly getting there or losing a final isn't a great achievement from southgate considering the young technically tallented bunch he has and the standards of internati9nal football at present.

a more ambitious manager would be playing the argies today as we had the french buy the throat and didn't have the killer instinct in us.

we may well be nearly winners in 2 years and that will be enough for most by the look of it, but is a waste of that squad.

For me, they are the wrong players for Southgate to get the best from. FA had an opportunity to say thanks and goodbye, but they do like their yes men

when you have the best young English players in the Premier League, winning titles and European titles with the best coaches in the world at the best clubs using a modern style setup of keeping the ball and pass and move taking the ball off the back 4 and using wing backs, then you can say it's not good enough by Southgate with a defences' setup and lack of ideas,

nobody gives a shit about semi-finals losers, final losers, Q/F losers, it's winning when you have the best bunch of players that wins at club football because of the way they are coached,

the FA should demand Southgate to go and work with Pep or Klopp and learn a system that is winning silverware and in Europe and the players understand,

it's like your mate got a top of the range sports car, and you're asking your mate can i use the wheels for my mini ?

It’s also worth noting that Southgate has an inherent advantage not present in most other World Cup squads: the vast majority of the team either play with or against eachother in their domestic league (whereas most other teams have players from across various leagues who rarely interact with one another competitively outside of international football).

Spain, in the glory Euros-WC-Euros period, showed this can be a significant advantage when managed well (especially when playing a large number of players from one or two club sides).

But Southgate has largely squandered it, even factoring in how the media praise him for “building squad unity”.

Those games were where we met the first decent team of any tournament we were in. Even then Italy were bang average.

He’s also got us relegated in the Nations League.

There isn’t a proper decent 1-11 international team anymore. None. Full strength France are the closest but they’d still pick Verane even if everyone was fit and he wasn’t good enough for top level football three years ago.

We have thrown away chances to win trophies with this manager in charge, getting to those games and losing are not achievements with the way international football is these days.

Tactics are basic at times and plain wrong at others. Same as his subs.
