We were the better side
Created more chances
Had more possession and shots on target
Unlucky with a couple decisions
Missed penalty
Lloris saves
Most people were predicting a France win
So tactically I think we got it right - we just lost. It happens.
You keep saying that but in my opinion…..
We weren’t the better team but it was competitive & it could have gone either way.
We didn’t create as many good chances as France.
We were unlucky with a couple of decisions & lucky with a couple of decisions.
Bad luck comes into it but I don’t think we did enough to reduce the bad luck.
I would say city v Madrid was bad luck, that happens. It’s not about losing it’s the way you lose.
The reason I’m pissed off is I think he’s a very ordinary coach with the top job & best resources available & I think if he plays the French 10 times he loses 9.
It would be like us keeping Pelegríni as he won us a league, got us to a semi final of champs league. However if you want to be the best you should be looking & identifying how to continually get better.
City identified Pep, style of play, scouting, best coaches, best facilities.
They identified a really capable keeper in Hart was preventing us from playing from the back & controlling games. Again, another tough decision but vital. That’s what progressive coaching is about & without that we wouldn’t have been scoring over 100 goals a season & being widely known as the best team in the world. I’ve never complained about not winning the Champs league as I agree about bad luck, refereeing but do you think anyone thinks England are the best in the world.
I’m happy for Southgate to stay as a figure head but he really needs to lean on better coaches & there are loads who see the game differently that have served under Pep, Arteta, Klopp etc
