FA Corruption

Anyone who believes there is no corruption in football in naïve in the extreme. It exists in every other business so why not in one of the richest in the world? It happens in Europe so why not in the UK?

The Adebayor trial for his celebration is proof enough. The referee pointed to the away fans when he booked him. How could he be booked for time wasting when he got back into his own half quicker that anyone in history. And why have other players who have taken longer to get back not been booked since. That witch hunt by the FA stunk the place out.

As PB pointed out why was SWP done for the slightest movement of his foot when he had just been flattened and then had a football booted into his stomach from point blank range? I actually think City are as much to blame City for this. They should have laid one of the FA board [Gill would do] on the floor, booted a ball at him from point blank range and if he moved even slightly SWP gets off. It’s funny that the referee didn’t see this when he was three metres away. It’s also funny that every time Ronaldo did it the referee saw it. And for him to get the same ban as the Stoke player is incredible. The FA will get away with favouring the big teams by using the “referee saw it and didn’t deem it worthy” rule as they did twice with starfish Gerrard.

Blue Tones – I fail to see how the FA cannot claim a conflict of interest when a CEO of a member club sits on their board. They have never given a satisfactory answer to this question. Because they can’t.

then surely if we follwo you chain of thought ..with City being the richest club in the world then the club should be at the head of the Que when it comes to handing out backhanders for results and decisions?..

see there is a point of view that could be argued by every other club bar city ...

Two off the top of my head.

We play with a straight bat.

We don't have our CEO swanning round FA HQ influencing proceedings.

my opinion is that too many of you see shadows, conspirercies ( sp)..and unjust decisions in everything...in the same way a bolton , wigan, boro, stoke, spurs fan might...and to start a campaign to petition the fa is OTT and is the sure fire way of having the pi++ ripped out of yourselves

Not ourselves then?

honestly ...calm down and try and be a little rational eh?

they will file it with the rest from wigan, shrewsbury, burnley ..under "small time"

Bumbles wether you are a rag or not I don't care, what you fail to see is the whole point of the argument. This isn't about individual decisions or indeed about any decision whatsoever. This is about highlighting and removing the conflicts of interest that manifest themselves inside the FA. The examples of poor decsions was merely an example of where a conflict of interest may have had an affect on decision making.

It is obvious for me that anybody within the FA must not be activly involved with member clubs, this is so obvious it is untrue that they get away with it. All I want from this campaign is for the FA to set out rules to elliminate this. Wether there has been any wrong doing or not, it is still always going to leave an element of doubt when board members represent a club they are supposed to be governing.

Thats the attitude, if we all stay silent it will never change. If we get a loud enough voice they will be forced to change.
I was trying to be lighthearted but I'm one of the ones that bang on all the time about corruption in the game.

How the hell did Cristiano Ronaldo get away with kicking out at an opponent three times while SWP was banned for 3 games for the same thing?

How did Clattenburg get away with blatant corruption in his handling of a Merseyside derby 2 seasons ago and why was he really suspended and then sacked?

How did the same person get away with altering his match report to make out he booked Adebayor for time-wasting (thereby allowing him to be charged with improper conduct over his Arsenal goal-celebration) when he clearly did no such thing?

How did the former FA Chief Executive get away with pronouncing on Adebayor's behaviour on national radio before the organisation had even had a chance to consider it officially?

But it's not just the FA. Inside the game it's referees, managers, players, owners & directors, as well as the Premier League. Why do you think complete incompetents like Dave Richards get such power in the top-flight game?
Outside the game it's Sky and big bookies who influence results and outcomes via the people inside the game.

There is a guy called Jerry Bullivant who devotes a lot of time to try to expose corruption in the game. He monitors betting markets and notes suspicious movements as well as watching the activities of agents. He revealed that a certain manager of a London team (have one guess) owns (through a front) hundreds of properties in and around London. He also revealed that a well-knwon local Scottish manager apparently has £20m stashed with Goldman Sachs.

He's also revealed which refs dance to Sky's tune and which take money off Far Easter bookies. He actually sold a dossier to the FA recently revelaing a trail of corruption which was supposedly acted on. Now it may be coinidental that, since then, Rob Styles took early retirement & Mike Riley was "kicked upstairs" to take over from Keith Hackett but it may not.

Agree with all that PB, except for the cleverly implied suggestion that Rob Styles may have been corrupt. I guess you are referring at least in part to the Chelsea 'penalty' at Anfield and the Birmingham 'penalty' against Sun Jihai, for his disgraceful premeditated assault on McSheffrey that time ........... oh hang on!

And well done Blue Tones; I hope you have more success than I did!
