FA Cup - 3rd Round Draw - Exeter H - (KO TBC)

Many of those make sense, apart from the last 2.
Would be better to show Everton v Sunderland, 2 big "traditional" FA Cup teams and SAFC giving it a real go this season.
Boreham Wood v Burton, non league vs League team so upset possible, and a reward for the non-league team getting through.
They all make sense bar the last one.

Embarrassing that United vs Brighton is chosen.
BBC must not have had 1st choice or the Rags would have been on their channel. I just am not interested in PL v PL ties unless its us in the early rounds of cups. TNT choosing Rags and Dippers for viewing figures only, not due to the romance of the cup. If Dippers were away it would be more interesting but at home it's a home banker.

Why ? TV love a giant killing.
Maybe, just maybe, against all odds the underdogs win.
I mean, macheshireyoonitid could get into the 4th round, if they drew a really big team it could wipe out there debt........
Oh wait......

Just the way the dates fall - it's happened before.
Generally when the Saturday after the NY falls on or before the 7th they'll play the 3rd round the weekend after.
It happened last year but the way have put it means it would be 6 times out of 7.

When we had snow problems at Boro it was 2nd. In recent years it had been played of 3rd and 4th, but last year it was 11th and this year 10th.

Scrapping replays allows them to be played later, and no doubt something to do with the PL weekend commitments.

Apologies - hadn't thought/looked into it sufficiently.
Your last sentence makes sense to me
Edit: that last sentence resonates with PL games not being played on Boxing Day doesn't it??

Yeah there is a minimum weekend requirement, so full ten around BD and NYD means it would need longer season dates to hit it.

I think for Foc's the 3rd round of the Cup was so special.
Balloons, Silver cup cut outs, I'm dreaming of a blue Wembley, Saint and Greavsie, Magic of the Cup, giant killings, Jimmy Hill, The Road to Wembley, Halifax, Notts County,Villa Park, Sat 3pm.Replays.

Now it's just about empty seats at Wembley-:)
Yep, you're right. I'm an FOC and I love the FA Cup 3rd round. To me there's still a bit of magic about it, but I would admit that most of it is sentimentality. Years ago the FA somehow managed to downgrade the jewel in their crown to a second rate cup competition. Even Cup Final day nowadays is a bit shit in comparison with days gone by.
I'll still be there for the Exeter game though :-)
