I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but silva benefitted against Villa on a similar one with Mings mid controlling a ball.

I am afraid that one is not on VAR/ Madley/ Liverpool or Salah but the rules of the game.

I’m pretty sure the same fans who think it is wrong now, where ok when Silva scored and the Liverpool fans who where complaining that Silva was offside are ok now.

It’s a problem throughout football, where for me the rule is wrong (and for the record, I didn’t care when Silva scored against the stubborn A Villa defence, so I’m the same as everyone.

The second one is just so wrong, the idea of VAR is that we are not going off the line persons decision it gets checked.

VAR takes a lot of enjoyment from the game, but now to have areas where they say they cannot use it is a farce.

2 clubs benefitted from VAR/ dodgy decisions and the 2 the TV companies still want in the competition.

2 where right but harsh (Salah/ Everton offside) and 2 where laughable United’s pen and Wolves offside.

Expect nothing to change

I thought the rules had been amended after City scored v villa. So it meant Salah was off side.

Yeah, but Mings did actually control it, just didn't realise Rodri was behind him. The Salah goal, no way did the defender have control.

It’s not about control it’s about making a deliberate attempt to intercept the ball, if he doesn’t but the ball touches the defender it’s offside. However, it’s a terrible rule, how could the defender ever know Salah was just offside, he had to make a decision. Technically Salah could be 10 yards off and if the defender deliberately attempts to clear the ball and slices the ball backwards the goal would stand.

Yet another game where what has transpired on the pitch doesn't reflect the result. Are Liverpool the only ones who are gifted a second chance? I don't suppose EFC would fancy another go at The Swamp, or if we go out 1-0 I would fancy a replay.

I've not seen any footage but the RDAHMeedya courtesy of the DT suggest that VAR couldn't make up it's fuckin' mind one way or the other, so that's a goal for me, the Dipper tactical camera sez ONSIDE, but the flag waving goon sticks his flag up and that seals it. Did he flag straight away or did he flag when the goal went in? I understand they don't flag and wait till a goal is scored before they do anything, and I would have thought that VAR was a little more clinical than a lino. I watched a couple of games yesterday without VAR and the lino was three yards behind play when a couple of offside goals were given. The linesman is the last port of call these days.

Anyway a replay is not such a bad thing ,Klopp already moaning - to be played just before the Wolves home game too correct?A bit of a win-win

My point is they have two lines of defence, bent refs AND VAR on their side. If for some reason one of the on field officials makes a mistake and gives the right decision then VAR is there to ‘correct’ it.

Clearly, the on field officials are the most important because their decision gives a lead to VAR, and as we’ve seen in this game, that gives a default position that stands if VAR can’t act for some made up reason.
VAR has corrected many incorrect decisions. It wasnt set up properly last night which is an entirely different discussion.

Last night was a great example of how officials treat certain teams in red. VAR should have corrected that. It didnt which is poor no doubt but it is our only chance of levelling the field. Without it the linesman decision from last night becomes the norm for certain teams.

They have no doubt cocked up it’s implementation to try to turn fans off it. Dont fall for it!! The alternative is much worse, its open season for officials then

Strange how week after week we see obvious offsides Ignored by linesmen- sometimes even one or two yards. Yet this lino has his flag up looking into a crowded penalty area
Exactly. Which has now been proved totally corrupt (5 yards onside).

Striking similarities to this. Funny how those decisions from officials always seem to favour certain teams in red. VAR’s implementation has been deliberately messed up by the officials to turn public opinion off it. Don't fall for it. It didnt work yesterday and that is poor but its still our best chance of levelling the field

Agreed. There are some valid issues around first/second phase. Last night wasnt it

The ball was initially played for salah. The defender plays it (because of salah run) but it still gets to salah so this is still the first phase. And should be called offside

Anyhow, they changed the interpretation after our goal against villa (Silva goal, Rodri off) to stop this. Unless you play in red, then this doesn't apply!
