Yep, because what is the defender meant to do in situations like that, let it go through hoping the opposition players are, in fact, offside?

And it’s subjective as to was it is “intentional” and “unintentional” play of the ball, which means it is yet another thing that can have very different outcomes depending on who is officiating the match.

It’s a stupid change that further disadvantages the defence.
 
why cant they look at it and see that there was an offisde leading up to the goal like evry other team is subjected too?
 
Yep. If the defender hadn't touched the ball while deliberately playing the ball, Salah would have been offside. And ifthe ball had accidentally flicked off the defender, Salah would also have been offside. Same thing that covers the back pass rule.
Judging by some of the posts on here Sane's goal against Liverpool was correctly ruled out...
