FA Cup 4/5/6/7 Jan

As an aside. I'm loving the retro tribute football being used.

Love the look of it myself — only issue is it doesn’t play quite the same as the Nike league match ball, as is also the case with the League Cup ball (basically the same as the FA Cup ball).

Do the televised clubs get a chunk of money from the broadcasters? If so can anybody explain why BT Sport chose to fund one of the most unpopular owners in the land.
As for the wonderful Blackpool fans; I think one of their pressure groups is called the Tangerine Knights, and I'm sure they published a list of owners who should be banned from English football. I'm also pretty sure the list included somebody called Mansour, so they can shove their boycott and their tower where the sun don't shine.

Can i just say that the use of VAR in some but not all games is an absolute disgrace and distortion of the competition.

What goes on in the heads of those at the FA who think things like this is a good idea i will never know.

Its either in for all or not at all.

I think for quite a few of them now its taken over. Yes the Oyston's and their ownership has been lamentable and involved some court proven illegality - we all sympathise with that but I reckon that were God himself to send a "clean" billionaire to own and invest in them that wouldn't be enough for some. Blackpool FC now only exists as a vehicle for their hate and if its not an Oyston then somebody or someone else will do

The game will be in 4 quarters soon and every conceivable effort will be a made to make it gender neutral mate, VAR or as you say the inconsistencies of the way they use it will be small fry in the bigger picture.

Bloody soft arse professional footballers, we used to play with whatever bloody ball we had, even if it was flat. If we didn't have a ball we'd just kick each other.

There are no issues with VAR.............it was used correctly at the swamp today to give them enough time to award the rags a penalty and concoct a story to provide a reason for doing so - no half measures - they have to be prepared to take as long as it takes to get the story right

As Rotherham's home kit is dead spit of Arsenal's we'll probably lose.

:)

And that is what probably stopped them getting the penalty without VAR as the officials we also thinking about the offside.

End of the day, the right decision was made for me, so VAR worked in this instance.
Did it?

I thought Mata's first touch plays Fred and Lukaku off side (both interfering), before he is then fouled.
Anyone else?

Yeah, I saw it on MOTD again now and there is the added element of Lukaku being active/inactive. I actually feel he had an impact on the challenge that caused the penalty and so would say it was a wrong decision based on that.

Fred was offside and so the goal couldn't stand and Mata was fouled after he poked the ball on, but he may not have been had Lukaku not impacted on the defender's body shape in making the tackle.
