FA Cup Final - Post Game thread

Just home.

Very disappointed but far from distraught. It did sum our season up somewhat: chances not taken and goals conceded too easily to a team that parks the bus and counter attacks.

The media seem to, predictably building the narrative that it was a Tent Peg masterplan, which does hack me off. It’s the same whenever a team pulls of a win against City with a variation on the same theme. The Rags did execute their plan well but we didn’t half help them with the first goal and not being clinical enough.

It’s not his way but Pep probably should have made changes after the first 30 minutes because the game was crying out for Doku, who changed the game for sure, but not quite enough. At least the lads went down fighting.

Not seen the penalty shouts back but sounds like we may have been mistreated there?

It’s a pity most of the players will not get a good rest now because that felt very much like a game too far after the Herculean efforts to win the league.

City now need to do themselves a favour and make sure they have a transfer window that puts our squad favour ahead of the rest and does not allow any gap closing.

I don't mind us losing (rather it wasn't to them, mind). I've followed us since the early 70s, and in the 90s we lost quite a few games! And if we go down swinging, and force our opponents to be excellent, then fair enough. But that wasn't the case today. That opening 45 minutes was horrendous, and the damage was done in that period.
Fair enough you call it as you see it. I don’t think this team of serial winners have suddenly lost the will to win but it was disappointing not to have performed like we can.

Complacent and arrogant I thought. Summed up by our captain jogging back for their second goal and then showing more fight with one of their subs than any other time on the pitch.

Shame but still, an immense season.

Complacent definitely, the Walker stuff is harsh on this occasion, I was annoyed at him on the Rashford ‘goal’ that never was because he stopped running, I’m hoping he knew 100% it was offside!

The league has to have took a lot out of our lot, united had a few players with 1000 weeks rest due to being apparently injured. If someone would have asked me “4 in a row or FA cup?” I know what I’d choose. Fergie the scruffy fraud couldnt even achieve 4.

I could stomach losing to the twats if they were going toe to toe with us and made a good game of it.

We absolutely played with our flip flops on. The worst United side I have seen in years and we gifted them a 2 nil lead.

The bastards are celebrating like they've won the quadruple.

Pep tinkering again has cost us a trophy

Complacent. Lazy. Dog shit.

The lot of them apart from Doku should be fucking ashamed and maybe take a cold hard look at themselves being out on the piss for the last week.

Absolutely unforgivable performance, I couldn’t give a fuck how many trophies they’ve won.

Anyone who went to Wembley to watch that wants refunding out of the players pockets.

That was pretty rubbish. So much to be critical about, but, never mind, heh?
We won the league - 4 in a row - and blew a final we could probably have won if we'd turned up, but, you can't give away comedy goals, like that 1st one in particular, and expect to come back from 2-0 down every time it happens.
United defended well. Their goalie played well - but should have saved Doku's goal easily. Ortega and KDB had off days. Our play was too ponderous. Foden was starved of the ball, as was Haaland - who should have had 1 penalty - early doors - at least.
A bad day at the office, starting with the line-up. Onwards and upwards - and get home safely everyone.

I said the same if rags had gone toe to toe than fine but rags played like a Championship side. The rags disagree lol

I think we gifted them a goal - if we hadn’t I think we would have staged a comeback as we were clearly the better team but those chances just wouldn’t go in. Not our day today but I’d not swap it for the 4 in a row for which our players deserve full credit. Treble last season. 3 trophies this season. Losing to rags is not an issue anymore as they are irrelevant
In a nutshell , and all we need to know , the Rags are miles away from us , they got lucky we gifted them a goal , we move on to bigger and better things than an FA Cup.
