FA Cup Final Post Match thread

Zabeleta has escaped with very little criticism. Surely that was the crucial and defining moment of the match. Barry's pass was awful, but there was no need for the foul

It was nothing to do with tactics

We lost because Zabaleta got himself stupidly sent off and players like Yaya and Silva had very quiet games. Martinez played the same game plan he usually employs, but City didn't have the ability in the team to break through their back line.

We win, you say nothing. We lose, you blame the manager.

With the sale of AJ, we lack a single player who can beat a player one on one with the possible exception of Aguero

So you don't see a pattern? You don't see that when teams press us, Mancini's football philosophy falls to pieces? You didn't fucking see us change to the ultimate shit formation 3-5-2, attempt a shitty under-pressure square pass, WHICH IS WHAT LED TO ZABBA GETTING INTO TROUBLE????

Jesus Fuck. Some of you have the worst fucking football understanding I could have imagined, you really fucking do. I think someone, before the board collapsed echoed the same "completely lack football intelligence" sentiment.

I rest my case with the fact that you even mentioned Adam "Benchwarmer" Johnson as a possible reason for our defeat. We win, I give an honest (and complimentary assessment), and dolts like you don't fucking notice. Then when we lose spectacularly, you notice the criticisms.

Just got back home now

Only way to describe that performance is turd on a stick

What the fuck was Barry playing at with that pass?;

We didn't play at our best. We had a man stupidly sent off and Wigan scored with the only effort on target that I can remember when there was no time to hit back. But we had 90 minutes to put the ball in the back of the net but didn't so no complaints

Yaya Toure didn't look like he was 100% fit as he didn't run once at the Wigan defence. His hamstring still looked like it was a problem for him.

When teams get a lot of men behind the ball we look a bit pedestrian and we need a player like Eden Hazard who can disrupt a defensive line

Did you see what Mcmananman was doing to Clichy? Or for that matter Espinoza on the other side?

Did Hart make a save?

Yes, they played a very good defensive game, and Mcmanaman was MoM but for 95% of the time we dealt very well with their counter-attacks. The problem we had was the yellow cards we gave away, and our inability to play those little through balls through their back 4. We got to the edge of their area repeatedly, but we just couldn't create. Neither could they but seeing as we had the lion share of possession, I thouight it was only a matter of time until Zabeleta blew it

Absolutely correct, Marvin. It looked like a decision borne of frustration. After all, Zabs was already on a yellow when he submarined him. I think Vinny actually had the run covered, so any intervention was unneccesary.

However, Zabs has had a terrific campaign for us, otherwise.

Just back and it was a good day apart from the match itself. Really annoyed with our performance as Wigan played exactly the same as they did a couple of weeks ago and we did nothing to stop them. Milner should have started, as should Pantilimon. The former gives more protection when we have to defend against wingers and Hart seems to have lost the plot completely the last few weeks. They have the worst defence in the PL and we couldn't trouble it at all, even with over £100m worth of strikers on the pitch at various times. Barry was utter dogshit and Yaya was only marginally better. Silva did OK and Tevez never stopped working but Aguero was woeful.

I don't accept the answer is simply to spend more money as most of the money Mancini wants to spend is to replace players he's bought.

It seems like 'Typical City' is like a super-bug that's resistant to antibiotics and I'm even beginning to doubt the ability of the owners now.

Anyone have a flashback right before Zabba's tackle? 0-0, at home to Dortmund. Mancini switches to 3-5-2, shitty backpassing begins. Midfielder gets pressed and plays a rushed square ball amidst their pressing, they intercept and are off to the races.

BTW, the header came from our zonal marking.

Mancini is incapable of learning or adjusting. Today's game against Wigan was like all of our Champion's League failures wrapped up into a shit burrito. The ultimate expression of why defensive, negative football is never going to beat attacking, pacy styles of play.
