FA Cup Games | Quarter-Finals | 18/19 March '23

Looking at the replays, I don’t think the goalie would have been sent off, even if they’d decided it was handball. The attacker was trying to play the ball away from goal and there were covering defenders.

This is probably the only occasion where I'd rather they did.

Wembley experience, cup semi final, and that Sheffield United team would be a walkover without them in the lineup.

There is that but if it bit us in the arse everyone would be up in arms.

Huh? There is no defender that stops the Grimsby player if he nicks the ball past Sanchez, which he likely does if the keeper doesn’t obviously handle the ball outside of the box.

Maybe, but I think if we lost to a 91st minute McAtee goal I hope we'd be looking inwards rather than blaming the fact he was playing. Plus, they are our players, are they going to be happy with us depriving them of their first Wembley experience? I'd be absolutely fuming.

You just know Sheffield Utd's cup run will cost them automatic promotion. This is a cut throat business.

Yeah but if you show the still from about half a second later the forward is trying to knock the ball in the direction of the corner flag and that defender is back behind the ‘keeper. Plus, they do tend to give the goalie any benefit of the doubt in those situations.
