The reason for the kick off times is connected to this

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...n-on-brink-of-signing-1bn-tv-deal-for-fa-cup/

The FA signed a big International TV rights deal in 2016 starting from 2018 for 3 seasons. As part of the deal, i think it was agreed they would spread the fixtures out as much as possible so that they got more viewers across the weekend (Bit like Amazon did last week with there games). So a certain amount at 3pm Saturday, 5:30pm Saturday, probably 2:00 pm Sunday etc...

So after the draw, BT/BBC make there picks for domestic TV showing, then the rest are allocated a kick off time to fill the other slots.

The FA see the FA Cup as there Cash Cow (£820M for oversees rights alone) & as we know they never take match going fans into account, hence why the final is on at 5/5:30pm these days rather than 3pm.....It's all for the TV money from around the world!

Anyone a rough idea on what the tickets are likely to cost? Looking to take my 8 year old lad to a game as part of his Xmas and a City game seems like the best idea considering we are travelling from Scotland. Was thinking about the Everton game on New Years Day but more chance of getting 2 together for this game.
I would guess £10 an adult probably £1 for kids. Or worst case £15 and £5

Excellent prices from City once again for a FA Cup game against lower league opposition. Most adults tickets are either £10 or £15, with concessions (under 18s and over 65s) either £1 or £5 depending which stand the ticket is for. Could be @ 50,000 + attendance despite the late KO time.
I read that as up to 7,500 seats for Vale. Will be great if it's a sell-out. It should be as it's cheap, a weekend game and no TV.

For the benefit of anyone travelling back to Stockport, Macc or Stoke after the game, there will be an additional 11 coach Avanti train at 20.15 to ensure the last train to London at 20.35 doesn't get hammered with Vale fans.

Can't hang about afterwards, then - you'll be lucky to get out of the stadium before 7.30pm and it's 30 mins on foot to Piccadilly. Any Vale fans wanting to show their appreciation to their team after the match better keep it brief.

This is why I ended up not using the train for the Wembley trips earlier in the year - too much risk of missing the last one back if there was extra time or penalties. TV before the match-going fan as usual.

Got the 2015 on Saturday, it made it to Euston by 2340 about 45 minutes after the 2035. A lengthy stop in Northampton for some reason while Network Rail confirmed its flightplan.

There are plenty of other trains back to the Potteries run by other operators of course. Part of my job is to protect existing services for the operator I'm employed by from overcrowding, which is what I have done. Have also had to do something similar for the Dipper Derby the following day.

Yes, it was planned to do that. Not what I asked Network Rail for though, but we're only one of many operators on the network so can't always get what we ask for !!!

Doing it for every cup game that weekend .It is for a minute of reflection. So if you have had a shit year you got another minute to think about it. Dont know who dreams this stuff up
Brilliant!

Anyway, interestingly, just been to the currency exchange to pick up my Croatian Kunas for Wednesday, and got chatting to the lad who works there who turns out to be a Vale fan. He was desperate to finish work early to log on and buy his City away tickets as he reckons they'll sell out instantly. Looks like they are treating it like a cup final !!!

We are treating it as a celebration, to celebrate the "new era" under the new owners. We are finally a club on the up, better players and better football being played. We will probably bring 7000-8000 true football fans all in party mood.
