I'd rather a team actually winning something got a place in CHAMPIONS League than a perennial 4th placed team.Guaranteed champions league slot? Absolutely no chance of that happening and neither should there be. When Wigan won it they beat: Bournemouth, Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Everton and Millwall before they beat us. Relegated and Champions league for winning 6 games?
In the same year, we beat Watford(h), Stoke(a), Leeds(h), Barnsley(h) and Chelsea. (And we never get favourable draws in the cup!)
There are countless examples of poor teams getting to the cup final and giving them a CL place would be a nonsense.
Can't see what harm it does the competition actually having a bit of a change up every now and again. The mid table Prem sides would have a great shout at the CL and would go balls deep for it.
Best course of action in my opinion.
Also read two articles today saying the FA are going to discuss it.
