FA Cup re-jig?

Makes more sense to cut the League Cup (or make it for Football League teams only)
Trouble is they already have a competition that is for league 1 and 2, so can't see that happening either. Also it just means more midweek PL games, which is no good thing for most. Also I think the rest of the PL (those not in europe) would still want to play in the LC, so maybe just exempt those in europe from playing in it, but then it doesn't allow for youngsters to get experience either.

There really is no easy answer to it, so personally I'd leave it be, although cutting the PL to 18 sounds a good idea, but good luck getting any of the bottom 12 to vote for that one.

People are only saying get rid of the league cup because we have already won it, if we had never won it and it was our only realistic chance of any silverware there is no way we would want rid. Keep it and use it to try out younger players etc, its not fair to take the chance of a trophy away from "smaller" teams

Only the arrogant want rid of the League Cup. Arsenal and Utd thought it was well beneath them, put out weak teams. I'm sure they'd love to be in the final instead of us.
Remember we have only won 4 major trophies plus the Charity Shield so I'm very happy to win the League Cup again and again and again!
As unpalatable as it might be a smaller league would be better, benefit the national team and those in Europe.

Some good suggestions on here and along the lines I was thinking

Qualifying rounds for non league teams should be in the previous season and rounds 1 and 2 in August with round 3 in September
The rest of the tournament could be fitted in around the existing calendar
As it is now, one replay following a draw in the first game
The FA Cup final should be the final fixture in the English domestic season. This ensures that it will remain a prestigious tournament

World football has to sack off meaningless friendlies, especially early in the season.

The League cup should me made an under 23 tournament for Premier League teams and the whole competition should be completed by Christmas
A one legged semi final to be played at a neutral venue that isn't Wembley, unless it's between two London/Southern clubs

The Johnstones paint trophy for lower league clubs should only be open to teams who have not qualified for the third round of the FA Cup

I think it won't be long before the actual competition is the draw. The team that is drawn out of the bag first, microwave or no microwave, will be deemed the winner and there will be another bag for the actual score, or perhaps a panel of ex-refs and pundits will have a conflab and tell us what the score was.

I can see us being drawn away to lower league opposition for the next ten years.

It's one way to avoid fixture congestion. Can' t believe that the visionaries at The FArce haven't brought it in already.

No changes to the FA cup except to get the last guaranteed slot for the Champions League - then people will take it seriously!
About the only other change should be no scheduled midweek league games after Christmas - so start the season two weeks earlier.

Guaranteed champions league slot? Absolutely no chance of that happening and neither should there be. When Wigan won it they beat: Bournemouth, Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Everton and Millwall before they beat us. Relegated and Champions league for winning 6 games?
In the same year, we beat Watford(h), Stoke(a), Leeds(h), Barnsley(h) and Chelsea. (And we never get favourable draws in the cup!)
There are countless examples of poor teams getting to the cup final and giving them a CL place would be a nonsense.
