FA Cup Semi Final draw - Brighton

BREAKING NEWS:.. City have sold 17 tickets in the last hour.. we'll bring you more details on this story when it emerges. Back to the Ole for President story now. Seriously though, does anybody want to chat about the game ??? Who'll play where ? What fornation? What of Brightons current form? ?

I'm just happy the bar queues in Wembley will be shorter tbh.

I made a choice.

Not going.

Went to Fulham on Saturday, and picked Spurs away in the CL over the semi-final.

That aside, I hate the FA, and I hate Wembley.

They FA have forced fans to go to the semi-finals at Wembley so they could rake in more money to pay off the Wembley construction costs, and rake in additional money when Wembley is paid off. The FA have aren’t bothered about the fans who follow teams in the North and the Midlands. If you support a London or Southern team, Wembley is great. There is no reasons why Northern teams can’t play semi finals at either Old Trafford or the Etihad. 33,000 or 27,000 tickets each.

As for Wembley. It’s sterile, plastic, everything is orchestrated, it’s become the bastion of modern football, run by executives who put money, spectacle, H&S rules and regulations, etc, before football fans. The whole experience of the day at Wembley, before and after the final whistle, is shite.

And let’s not forget. If City reach the FA Cup Final the FA will automatically reduce the ticket allocation, and the ticket prices will rocket.

The FA are.......
Well I'm a southerner (Brighton fan) and I agree with you - having semis at Wembley is gash. They should have built a national stadium in Coventry - far cheaper land, far more central with a slight bias to the more populated south east, and no reliance on debenture holders to get it built. It's not that Wembley is noticeably more plastic and exploitative than any other new build, it's just that the construction costs and consequent onus on having every sodding big fixture played there has diminished what it stands for.

Planner showing just over 100 left in bottom tiers.. have we really shifted thousands this morning or something odd going on

I'd see it as a concern to the powers that be that City fans are refusing to attend a semi final. We need to get back to neutral venues for the semis, although I'm sure the fans of the other three clubs at Wembley this weekend would disagree.
Hopefully the powers that be at our club start to realise that the continual seasoncard price hikes (200% rise in eight years), the almost double in price individual matchday tickets for some games compared to what the away fans are paying for, and the price of Cup games... eventually starts to dent the wallet too much.

If our seasoncards were the same price as they were in 2011 and Spurs CL home tie was priced at £30 for every home fan, we’d sell out this semifinal no problem. Our fan base has largely stayed the same, we have far fewer of these out of town plastics compared to United and Liverpool. Not much (apart from fans being priced out so have had to stop going) has changed in our support since ten years ago when my seasoncard was about £450 and I paid just £10 for a Europa League quarter final home leg. So why does the club think it’s changed? For thousands of us the cost of living has gone up so much since then that we’re actually less well off than we were ten years ago. With our largely working class North West fanbase, there’s always a breaking point and it’s come with this semifinal. But I think the club think we have a fanbase like United and Liverpool to call upon.

The club’s overall earnings from ticketing is so small that there’s no need for them to price things as they do.

And I’m not moaning for myself, I am a single bloke with no kids and can largely afford everything (to a point) and I am going on Saturday. But I really feel for the fans who just can’t keep on affording everything. As much as the powers that be at the club think the club is theirs, it isn’t, this club is ours, the fans. Without us they’d be nothing. These semifinal sales are showing that if we all walked away they wouldn’t just fill our seats with plastic nobodies who’d pay more, they are nothing without us.

The club need to wake up!

Then hopefully the powers that be from the governing bodies start to wake up too!

Having the semifinals at Wembley takes the shine off the final. Having the semifinals kick off at 17:30 in London when last trains back up North are between 21-22:00 is a nightmare if it goes to ET/pens.

Hopefully this is the one that makes them realise things need to change. In a way I hope there are shit loads of empty seats in our end on Saturday. I hope we can start getting more sets of fans to boycott the semis at Wembley for the future!

Think Brighton have been given more but dont no which section
There still in our block and selling so no way can mix fans. Brighton still got some of their own left

Every block has low availability in lower tier and still available to city fans so can’t be Brighton unless buying through our website

Spot-on. Despite those who think we are attracting a lot of so-called tourists these days our fanbase has remained mostly the same since the takeover. (Except the bigger CL games). In some ways this is good as we stay true to our roots but we do need to attract new fans longer-term so a balance has to be struck somewhere. I am of the generation who would never miss a game at Wembley but I would never slag off those who are not going on Saturday.

as a previous poster alluded to, 4 tickets given to every member of city's staff, hey presto, loads gone, would have been nice to have been passed on to all fans, but nevermind
