FA Cup Semi Final draw - Brighton

Really enjoyed yesterday. Great turnout and good atmosphere. Lots of kids there and I hope they can tickets for the final. Assume all the corporate twats will be milking up tickets tho I'm afraid.

Indeed. I'm one of those 'corporate twats'. I took ten tickets for the game on Saturday (and attended). I've also done the vast majority of away games and half of the European away games. I've been going since 1969 and I pay a hell of a lot of money, season in, season out for the tickets in Joe's. Local lad, Christened at St Mark's Church West Gorton before it was demolished in the '70s and I whilst I have match going mates who are more fervent than myself, I count myself as a 'proper' fan. The trouble with broad sweeping statements is that they are usually bollocks. In the meantime, I will be taking my ticket entitlement for the Final, as I will for Palace, Burnley, Brighton and, fingers crossed, the Champions League Final - if that's OK of course.

But were you at York away ;)

Not taking an allocation for the derby ;-)

Went on one of the Brighton forums and they have a poll which they want the dippers to win the league over us

Apparently we are plastic fans with no history

One goes onto say he actually stood on the kop for 7 years when in exile!!!

Fantastic, what a time to be a blue. Being called plastics by Brighton is truly an honour. Just wish we had a history like the mighty Hove Albion.

Yep, no bias there eh?!!

Weird thread that. Apparently much of the negativity is based on the behaviour of our fans on Saturday. Now I'm not saying every City fan was impeccably behaved because that's bollocks but by and large, I got the impression that both sets of fans mingled freely and one thing about us is that most of us remember exactly where we've come from. Anyway, since coming across that thread last night I've found another on there which is a proper eye-opener and offers up a very much different view: https://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?371753-Idiot-who-threw-the-bottle

Story after story of Brighton fans behaving like utter bellends towards their own and a fair few of them picking on innocent City fans too. I'll add that I drank with Brighton fans before the game both inside and outside The Globe and there was no trouble whatsoever

You get 70000 people in one place and you’re statistically guaranteed to have murderers and rapists amongst them so the fact that there were a few boisterous slightly aggressive types knocking about surely wouldn’t surprise anyone or cloud the judgement of one set of fans towards the others

I don't disagree. I was just surprised to read so many stories on a Brighton forum of Brighton fans not exactly covering themselves in glory towards their own and ours. The odd one, fair enough, but far more instances than I expected, especially as I interacted with a load of theirs on the day and never felt threatened

Well, they took more to Wembley than their ground's capacity, so even if every single season ticket holder went, there'd still be several thousand more who are there for the occasion and don't go to games regularly. So it's perhaps not so surprising that there were quite a lot who aren't hardcore fans and who went for a big day out.

Personally I'm with you - I thought they were fine. There was one minor scuffle I saw, but it's hardly that unusual, and the police were there quickly to metaphorically slap them round the head and calm them down.
