FA Cup SF | Liverpool | Sat 16 Apr 15:30 | Travel, Ticket & Pub Discussion

I can't believe this needs to be said but it's not supposed to get 60,000 people to Wembley.

It's supposed to replace the trains effected by the maintainance works.

An 11 carriage Avanti train carries 500 people. The buses are going to move 5,000 people. So 10 full trains. Lime Street to Euston is hourly, so fans would probably be on the 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 oclock trains, any later than that and you're not making kick-off. Piccadilly to Euston is more common but 5 full trains worth of people from the FA plus the 2400 fans the club have organised transport for should get most down there.

They aren't supposed to be replacing travel for every fan who would driven, gotten a train from elsewhere in the country, gotten a bus which would have run anyway.
I can't believe you have completely missed the point. The roads will be jammed, always the case on Easter holiday weekends, if you think 100 ext a coaches are just dandy then you are stupid. Whichever way you cut it this is a shit show, dragging 70,000 people down to London is a disgrace and a great big "fuck you" to the fans. Whilst people accept this it will keep happening

But it's a 100 extra buses. Roads and services were bad when we played Wigan in the final and that's with the trains running. Although the roads were fine when we played the Rags. Never really worked that one out
Doubt if they will have as many travelling from liverpool as we will have from Manchester. Like trafford they have a large southern based support who I reckon will take a good number of their tickets. Some motorway roadworks are due to be suspended for that weekend, which will hopefully help the traffic flow.

No one's missed the point except you.

Whether 100 coaches will adequately replace train travel is an entirely different conversation to whether the semi-finals should be at Wembley.

I don't understand why people are so angry though. Wembley is the home of English football. We are playing there a lot which is great! I don't agree that the semis should be at Wembley but they are. Unfortunately, we support a team 200 miles from Wembley. I slightly understand if you live in Manchester but just for that reason it shouldn't be moved from Wembley. I bet most people having a moan will be there on the 16th!

Unpopular opinion maybe...

Well that's my transport to Wembley sorted out.
LNER train from Wakefield to King's Cross and back for £52.
Leaving at midday ,into KX for 14.01 hrs gives me 90 minutes to get to Wembley.
And return leaves at 19.33 hrs so plenty of wriggle room to account for any extra time and penalties if needed.
Back in Wakefield for 21.30 hrs and I should be back in Manchester an hour later.
Sorted.
Just my match ticket to pay for now.

I remember the days when we sang..'a shitty place in London that we will never see'! How the mighty have fallen!!!!!
Big game, big day out...leave the FA debacle to the FSA and official groups.
Let's get behind Pep and his boys.
WEMBERLEE, WEMBERLEE!!

Just sorry its not at OT think how rag piss would boil at thought of us or worse the scousers filling the Stretford End.

Which other tournament has semi finals at the same venue as the final?

You're right, that's why I said I don't agree with the semis being there. They are however so I think we should just enjoy our times there. If they ever stop we will be longing for a semi final at Wembley.

It detracts from the final too. win the semi and you don’t get that rush that you’re going to watch City in the cup final at Wembley as you’re already sat in the stadium.
