You have a point. The rivalry has moved up several notches since the LC Final match. The watershed was of course the team coach attack and things have got steadily worse. I envisage a highly toxic atmosphere for this game.

I was at that league cup final. Don’t really remember many negative vibes, apart from a lovely group of our Liverpudlian chums singing “I’d rather be a packi than a Manc” in front of an Asian family at the service station on the way down. It was absolutely abhorrent and they were rightly called out by a big group of blues, who starting singing “Oh Manchester is multicultural” to the tune of “Oh Manchester is wonderful”.

And as you say, it’s gone massively downhill from there.

I’ll never forget that.

No chance in a million years I am going anywhere near that match.
 
I’ll be going regardless loud and proud.
I foresee another Villa and Leicester where we are outnumbered and the opposition fans take liberties , just wish the novelty hadn’t worn off for many of our fans. The turn out and atmosphere for our first few trips to the new Wembley we’re amazing.
I don’t blame people for not going though , especially with the farce this time around.
