FA Youth Cup 2014/15 Thread

The youth team we have at the moment will be our 'class of 92'

So much talent in there right now. Let Vieira take the reins of the first team next season and bring Lopes, Denayer, Angelino, Maffeo, Evans and barker with him. These boys are hungry to prove themselves and would never give a performance like the one against liverpool last weekend. Bring in that amount of youth and we will be written off by the 'you can never win anything with kids' brigade, perfect! let them write us off, lower the pressure on our boys and see what happens. keep our spine of Hart, Kompany, zab, SIlva and Aguero to help integrate the boys in then let them do what theyve been doing so well for the last 2 years

I prefer them to be the new ''Class of 86'' ;)

Rag!

The lads from that rag team were brought in over a period of time, not just all chucked in together at 17-18. They started by making the odd appearence here & there at that age (extremely odd appearence in the case of Lurch & Igor), & eventually became full first team members some years later.

It was just Giggs who got in the team very young & stayed there (about 17). The rest were all round about 20 years old, having had occasional games for several years previous. Beckham even went on loan to preston after he had debuted for Utd.

I imagine the plan for these lads is to have the bulk of them who are good enough playing regular first team football at City round about the time they reach 20-21.

But imo the best way to achieve that, would have been to start giving some of them occasional games this season.

We don't want to end up with about 12 kids at 20 years old, all needing to play in the first team, but most of them having had hardly any minutes on the pitch with the first team prior to that.

#MCFC will take on Leicester in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final on Wed March 11 at the Academy Stadium

Great idea to play it at the Academy Stadium, should be a good atmosphere and another chance to showcase how we are ruining football.

The Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea 1st leg is just starting for anyone interested on ITV4 https://www.itv.com/itvplayer/itv4

Spurs 2 Chelsea 0
I watched until around half way through the 2nd half and was not particularly impressed by either side. From what I've seen of Leicester this season they'll cause us more of a problem.

Doesnt look like ours is being televised. Not on the planner for Wednesday as far as I can see.

Really enjoyed the game last night between Spurs and Chelsea.

Good young players on show, very impressed at the standard.

Walker-Peters and Onomah were excellent for Tottenham.

Chelsea have some very good players at that level. I thought both full backs, Aina and de Silva, looked like they had a load of potential, whilst Brown and Solanke have been involved with the first team already for a reason.

Doesn't look like our game will be televised. Possibly the second leg will?

What a shame that City TV can't stream any of our youth games, especially since they moved to the Academy stadium..... They streamed NYCFC but don't broadcast our youngsters.....

The choice of our home venue is interesting. great facilities and should be a good atmosphere. Will it be big for a semi final crowd? Thinking back I don't think it should be especially if City give it the level of promotion such a fixture deserves. I am assuming Leicester will bring some support as well, just like Crew did, so ticketing issues could be interesting.

The Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea 1st leg semi attracted just 2,235 for a London derby so the Mini-Etihad is an obvious choice I think.
That said, Newcastle at home v Chelsea got over 11,000 when they threw open the doors and made it free for all. Does making people reserve their tickets and pick them up from the ticket office make that much difference?

Being live on ITV4 would have affected the gate but still a piss poor crowd
