I must say though, what do Chelsea feed their kids?

They were like the Stoke of youth football but with top class technical ability to go with it.

Our lot looked liked they were playing men.

So just found out Humphries at CB is only 16? Him and Tosin look promising for their age

I like the look of Tosin, looks a little lanky but he can read the game and intercept really well.

I went this evening, and Tosin was MotM for me. They all came over to us at the end and shook hands and signed a few autographs etc. Tosin is stick thin, but he handled the dangerous Solanki, who must be one of the best forwards in English Academy football, superbly. Also very impressed with the two full backs, Maffeo (?) and Angelino. Barker was stronger and quicker than I've previously given him credit for as well, but he needs to play with his head up more.
Well though I thought our lads acquitted themselves, Chelsea still set the bench mark at this level. No's 5, 8 & 10 were like 3 Raheem Sterlings, unbelievably quick from a standing start, and they had great technique as well. It's an almighty step up to the first team, but there were 2 or 3 of our lads, who might be in with a shout in a couple of years time. Good evening. Very enjoyable

is this based on this game ? your saying an 18 year old lad won't make it based inn one game, despite the fact he's been one of our best players this season

Watched both legs of the semi and both against Chelseas. The guy may well be talented but based on the 4 games I have seen he lacks the requisite desire to impose himself on the game. Strolls around when he loses possession.

so based on 4 games, 2 of which are agsint one of the best young teams in europe. i just dont think you can judge a player or what they are going to be like when there older based on these games. Having watched him most of the season he has been one of our best players, he's not ready now though.

He looks mentally tired; earlier in the season he was constantly facing up right backs and torturing then. Only twice towards the end of the first half he drove into the box and was dangerous.

He needs a good rest in the summer, then a loan spell, potential abroad or somewhere like Derby, to develop physically and mentally. Without his run and assist in the first leg, the tie would have been over anyway. He has the raw ability to beat a few players in a manner not many others can, and if that can be harnessed and developed he'll be a huge asset to this club.

And if Chelsea got run ragged by Thierry Ambrose again, so Barker had loads of space, & Denzeil Boadu was bouncing their midfield off his chest, & City dominated possession like they have before vs many of these players, & Chelsea lost Izzy Brown & Solanki from their team, & got fucking hammered, would that mean that the players you could tell, would make it, suddenly wouldn't make it, & the players who won't make it suddenly will ?

I'm not judging by last night's match mate, just in general. The things you have to bear in mind is that the premier league imo is the toughest league in the world. You'll be playing against oppositions who are strong, very tactical etc. A few have caught me out this season and they didn't let me down last night either and they've shown glimpses that they can mate, which is why I said I can tell who can make it and who has less of a chance of making it.

No, slightly further round the corner to the left with my lads. A decent turnout (I'd estimate about 300 Blues) and the majority down from Manchester - rather than Southerners like me - as there were half a dozen coaches outside afterwards

Mom was Toxin but hardly got a mention on the tv.

Both full backs played really well, Barker wasn't at the races in either leg of the final I suspect partly due to both of Chelsea's full backs being excellent.

Ichyeeco started really well and could have had more than one goal early doors but was obviously not fully fit.

Byran did a good job.

The rest of them again maybe due to Chelsea performance didn't do too well, not been impressed with the keeper in both legs (had Gun been able to play i think we'd have won), Nemane apart from 20 mins in the first leg always at this stage disappoints me.

We were the best side in the second half at ours and the first half at theirs if we'd too in our chances and defended better, of their 5 goals one came from poorly playing the ball out and two from bad defending on corners, not much between the sides.

Think I'm right in thinking most of this crop can 'go again' next season.

both teams technically excellent, but what struck me was a lack of blood and thunder for a final
at times chelsea were just knocking the ball around without someone putting their foot in and taking one for the team,
they needed disrupting in their pattern of play.

but some good players on show for both teams, they did look bigger than us though

Much better performance from the boys. Have to agree we missed a couple of our better and stronger players but still no shame against a team that has been together longer and are advanced physically. Nice to see effort being put in. Well done Blues.

I went last night and despite the result, it was the most enjoyable game I've been to all season.

Was really impressed by the amount of fans that travelled down and we did ourselves proud. Speaking to a number of Chelsea fans after the game they were amazed by the atmosphere that we created.

Nice touch for them all to come over at the end and shake everyone's hand.

Onto the game and there were a lot of positives but lots still to learn for many of the team, and that's to be expected, they are after all still youngsters.

I know people cry for youth to be given a chance but I think that this bunch are still a year of two away.

The whole back four were the standout players for me, crazy to think that Humphries is still only 16.

A good effort last night . Far better intensity than first leg and it felt a bit more real in terms of development which took us closer but leaves us wondering if we should of attacked the home leg like this. Certainly the first half of home leg. Give Chelsea credit though they weren't fazed by us scoring and eventually took the game over. Thought Tosin and Brandon were very good and it shows that Jim Cassell's expert eye for young talent is still burning bright as it seems forgotten or ignored that he signed these two along with Kean Bryan and developed them for 7 years of their 10 years at our club. So well Done Jim your still producing the goods for us. The 3 lads plus Nemane have done you and the club proud. Innechea could end up being a Nimeley who doesn't make it but looks sharp to score a goal and looks like a penalty area specialist and throughout the first team season the amount of times we end up in opponents 18yd box hopefully we can see some game time and goals from him next season possibly as late sub in games. I expect Chelsea to win the league this week then we will see some of their team and last years in their team for a game this season. Hopefully we can find a place for some of ours before the last game too.

We have some technically gifted players , but they lack the physicality to compete , was proud that a few of our lads are from Manchester , and they played some nice football. The likes of Angelino,Matteo,Barker,Ihacheno,Bryan need to be loaned out next season to toughen them up in lower league football , and we can maybe recall Lopes,Rekik and Denayer to supplement our first team squad .Hopefully in the next 2 to 3 years we will have several home grown players competing for premiership games , and then UEFA , FFP , and Twatini etc.,can go and f*ck themselves.

I made it to both legs of the Youth CUP and feel that I must congratulate City as a club for getting so many things correct.

Playing the first leg at the Academy stadium not only showed off our superb resources but generated a superb spectacle and atmosphere.

The home leg support from city fans behind the goal together with the band was worthy of a final.

City Charged reasonable prices for both legs and lots of families attended.

Free travel to Chelsea yesterday facilitated enough travelling fans to support the team at Stamford Bridge. Travelling arrangements were spot on and we had a good but long 13 hour day out. I thought we created a decent atmosphere.

On the pitch we showed odd good glimpses but lost to a more physical Chelsea team who played well in midfield and always looked dangerous when they attacked. City injuries played their part but a very big well done to all the City Playing Squad and Jason Wilcox's management team.

At both matches I also got the impression that Club and Players appreciated the support they were given. Well done City. Let's do it all again next year.

I believe this is a section of OUR CLUB that will continue to grow.

Seems as I hear though the best player in each age group from u21 down to under 13 have all been signed by Jim Cassell ? Who signs the players now and buys the foreign lads ? The best players definitely seem to be local lads who were signed years ago ?

That oversimplifies it a little, Angelino, Maffeo, Ambrose, Garcia are all good foreign prospects from the current Youth Cup squad.

Agree on potential. Don't really think Angelinno very easy on the eye Billy Whizz type of performer and good left foot attributes but I hate writing this but my heart just tells me he won't be good enough and too small. U21 Hiwulia Cole Evans Lawlor Facey. U18 Barker Bryan Tosin. U17 Nemane Wood. U16 & schoolboys Bashiru Nemechie brothers Patching Foden all I'm told signed by Cassell ??? There is obviously some I will have missed but it stacks up that Jim Cassell left one hell of a legacy and despite money facilities and efforts it isn't close to being matched yet in terms of development. We haven't seen anyone sustain a career since he left and we arent even doing what the rags did for years by promoting individuals that aren't quite good enough , give em a quick debut in an easy game, tell the World they are brilliant then sell them a month later for 750,000 grand with add ons. ( higginbotham Appleton Cooke Healy Murdoch Curtis and more). The only one I think we have done that with is Huws. And to think we thought via listening to Marwood that we had "found one" in Abdul Razzak??? 2 years later 4 clubs later, 2,sackings later he can't get in Doncasters team? I'm not even gonna mention Rekik Lopes Suarez and Pozo. Let's hope we can speed up and be the best in youth development again. We have the resources and we've done it twice before in two different eras without a penny being spent hardly.
