Fabian Delph - 2018/19 Performances

It's a worry when the opposition target one of our players the way Leicester did Delph.

I don’t think it is just Delph though. I think opposition managers are seeing our full backs as our major weakness and trying to exploit it. Almost every goal we concede is coming from the flanks.

To be fair it was a tackle made out of frustration, not sure if the tackle deserved a straight red but his performance did.

He did not play well (though, our midfield didn’t exactly help him through this period of bad form), but that was a harsh red. Ricardo more ran in to Delph’s boot than Delph’s boot went in to him. He was clearly going for the ball, won it, and Ricardo ran through the follow through. I am honestly not even sure it should have been a foul, but perhaps that is my blue tinted specs speaking there.

The red is harsh but he absolutely left his foot up like that in purpose, he could easily have been bringing his foot down by the time of impact. It was a bit snide but not sure you could definitely announce it as a red card for dangerous play.

Did I miss the bit where I said 'I hope Delph gets a stupid red card today?'

I don't wish him suspension, but being out of the side is better for us. He has cost us a goal per game for as long as I can remember.

Same fucking result !

Not sure he had as much time as you think to pull away given how the Leicester player stormed in. In fact, the only reason Delph caught the player the way he did was because the player ran in so late (the ball was well gone before the contact was made).

Him being out the side means Zinchenko comes into the side....

Odd that dean spoke to the liner re the red but didn’t bother asking him about the foul on Danilo that led to their equaliser.
