It is now official in my opinion

Coentrao is the best left back in the world. The only question left unanswered is whether we want him or not.

I have now watched 5 straight games in which it has been absolutely clear. Going forward, no one is even close. Ashley Cole is a poor imitation going forward. Defensively, he is up there with the best of them, Cole, Evra, Chivu, Shmeltzer.

But what he has that none of the others come close to, with the exception of Evra, is his teamplay. interchanges with his mid and forward line and his movement on the left flank is in a class of its own.

Oh finally, his recovery speed is outstanding too. I am officially on the "Coentrao is City's will be City's best Signing" Bandwagon.

The only question is whether City sees this :( Apparently Bayern has been sniffing around him. A Lahm/Coentrao fullback duo will literally be the best in the world. We need to nip that in the bud :)

Bayern have been linked with every good defender in the world in the last few months, so who knows if that one actually has any legs.

A google search for this lads name under 'News' has Bayern, Liverpool, Chelsea, and us all confident they will land him. And that's just the first page.

How is his last name pronounced? Con trow ?

I pray to god that City will sign him! Kolarov is a good left back but Coentrao is world class!

Youtube videos are not convincing in showing whether a player is good or not. You'd have to watch whole games to see how he responds in most scenarios. Youtubes mostly highlights a players magic moments. except for those youtubes that edit a players every touch in a game. There is a guy who does youtubes of certain players he likes per game. But i don't think Coentrao is one of his guys.

If you wanna see Pastore or Sanchez though, he has tons of tubes that chronicles their every move in a couple of games.

Don't know! The last was a thread about getting getting Coentrao, this is a thread about Coentrao being the best left back in the business. The point of emphasis are different. However I could concede that this might have been much more appropriate on the General football forum. That is what most of the commentators say. I find myseld calling him "con se kow" which really isn't his name, but the name of some other dude I often confuse his name with :)

we will have to wait and see the new rules on spending are about to kick in and if you believe the papers mancini has asked for 100 million for cavani and ibrahimovic then we need 2 full backs and possibly a new midfielder and theres already talk of us being close to signing sanchez from udinese.We will be spending a shit load of cash if this were to be true but im not to sure
I think a lot will depend on getting 4th place then we can go for the quality players.

It is not possible hat we are in for both Cavanni and Ibra, unless that is we are losing both Tevez and Balotelli. So really, the money should cancel each other out to some extent. But it will be a stupid move in my opinion. Ibra is not a good fit for England, and buying Cavani would not change our slow build up. It would just give us another striker starved of the ball. It is not as if our strikers are missing multiple chances. It is really that they aren't getting many.

So defense and midfield fluidity should play a larger role in rectifying our scoring problems than offense.

I can totally see us going for Coentrao and Sanchez and waiting till January to see what else we need. Clearly we have an all round chemstry weakness. We have a technical ability weakness, We have a pace weakness, and a skill weakness. Sanchez and Coentrao can improve all four aspects dramatically

if you like so much the back wingers unable to defend for their life then bastos , marcelo , and most of all bale are a lot better than coentrao.
