ROBERTO MANCINI wants Cesc Fabregas to power Manchester City to the title next season.

City clinched a Champions League place last night thanks to Peter Crouch's own goal, which gave the Eastlands side a crucial 1-0 win over Tottenham

But when asked which player would make his side Premier League champions next year, Mancini replied: "Cesc Fabregas".

The Arsenal skipper is already being hunted by Barcelona — the club he started with —while the Gunners are adamant they will not sell.

But they would find it hard to resist a bid of around £50million which would take Mancini's spending at City through the £200m barrier.

Mancini also wants Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the striker he won Serie A with at Inter Milan.

The City boss said: "Zlatan is proof you have to spend money to win titles.

"Milan took him from Barcelona and, look, they have won Serie A.

"What a fantastic player he is. Wherever he goes - Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona and now Milan - he wins the title. If Zlatan wants to come to City I would immediately find a place for him."

Ibrahimovic is on loan at AC Milan from Barcelona and would cost around £20m.

Last night's win against out-of-form Spurs took City seven points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool with two games left.

If and it is a big if. Fabregas wants to leave Arsenal because he does not see them challenging for trophies then we have a chance.

Barca may not need him.

If we sign him it needs to be quick. No long discussions on will he/won't he - we are past that, yes or no you take your choice - one chance.

It is possible and if Mancini is quoted then he must rate the guy, most people do. If City want to back their manager and why would they not then we have a chance. Fabregas, Silva and 'Sanchez' would be exciting, very.

Ibra sounds as if it will happen, if Mancini is in charge..

Just hope signings are sooner rather than later. Ticker and all that.

the way he behaved towards mancini at the final whistle at their place was disgusting. would be very suprised if we were in for him tbh. hes a nasty little shit and they dont call him fibreglass for nothing.

Hmmm... it /is/ quoted though... I don't want to get my hopes up because that's a fantastic signing if true..

Sometime's he can't be arsed though and I'm not sure if he would be there for trophies and the shirt, or just a fat pay cheque.

Could we live with his quality and occasional off days allowing him to take the big pay packet? We have a few on good pay so I am told..

Fabregas has said several times he has no interest in playing for another club and its only Barca he wants. I do expect the club will use City and Real as contenders for Fabregas signing in order to make barca make the right bid. he will either go to barca or stay.....there's no doubt about that. Also its the sun lol

Open season on "pick your most unlikely players to come to City" then :D If Fabregas signed for City I'd shit a brick. A genuine brick.

I don't want this twat near our club although he is the type of player needed.
