I don't understand them on this one. If they REALLY think they needed someone like Fabregas, why not just bid 40m and get it over with? Ok maybe the opening 25m or whatever to test the water, but it's Fabregas from Barcelona of fucking course it was going to take a humongous bid to make them even think of it. How could they think otherwise?

The other thing is why their hard on for Fabregas and Alcantara when they already have Kagawa? Isn't it a stiffer spine that they're after in midfield? They should've tried to get Paulinho or Fernandinho but too late.

Fabregas is just using ManU to get a pay raise.
He had taken a wage cut when he signed his 5 year deal with Barcelona to ease some of the financial pressure of the deal. Now, after the sale of Thiago and given Xavi's age, he sees his position strengthening.
Barcelona's comments that everything is in Cesc's hands means they are also not willing to cave in and are prepared to wait it out.
