A statement was released on Saturday night asking for the media to respect Fabrice Muambas and his families privacy. How is setting up camp outside the hospital, doing this? They should all go away, and when the hospital,or his family, have any news they will let us know.

welcome to the british media who do not respect any fucker no matter what, if it has a story they will do what they can to get it.

Our local media through overseas feeds have shown the incident in the lead up to the medical staff attending warning only about flash photography.

I see nothing gained by showing such footage over and over again and again its what drives the media.

The aftermath is driven by the fact that the public would like to be informed of the current situation but I agree its how they do it that irks me.

New Update: His heart is stable but he's still in a critical condition.

Does that mean he's starting to get better or not? I'm not good with medical terms.

i swear i heard one of these heart specialest on tv talking about this and said only 6% of people who sufferer from a cardiac arrest (sp?) survive..

I would say he was talking shit

He’s not talking shit. Very, very few people survive a cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is different from a “heart attack”. If you go into cardiac arrest it is highly unlikely you will survive – muamba only stood a chance because medical assistance was only a matter of feet and seconds from him – and even then you have an enormous fight on your hands.
It really is testament to the skills of the medical staff that muamba even has a fighting chance as – as stated – the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest are very slim.
The work of doctors and medical staff is something to be applauded and never, ever, taken for granted

24 hour news culture, it is a fucking blight on our society. Why we need 24 hour rolling news I really do not know, most of the output ends up being either tedious or embarrassingly inane or both.

The fact he is an elite athlete may help but it is true that not having the heart functioning for that long and the fact it was the electrics that were disturbed makes it a dire situation.

It's a shame the regular heart scans policy were not applied to him or if they were how unfortunate the warning signs were not uncovered.

I'm hopeful that Muamba can make a full recovery, but the thing that worries me most is the prospect of very serious brain damage. If his heart was stopped the entire time he was on the pitch he will have been deprived of oxygen to the brain for an extended period of time. I hope it is not the case, but from the details released it sounds as if his heart was stopped for quite a while. I'm sure he's in the best of hands, but this what I find most concerning regarding the scant details that have been released.
