its possible to drill a lot deeper, but it comes down to money and the fact that after you pass the oil, there is nothing of interest that would warrent the expenditure.
we also chatted about how to get a scaff foot out of the bottom of the hole, which was 9000 feet deep.someones very expensive mistake and a touchy subject lol
Is it possible to drill all the way through earth ... maybe divert around the hot bit in the middle... ?
What if you fell in it, how would that work because you cant fall feet first and land on your head. Wow just think about how confusing that is!!chedinho said:i would hazard a guess that with directional drilling,it is in theory possible...but would be pricey!!!Markt85 said:chedinho said:i was chatting to a toolpusher recently about the deepest holes drilled.and this is one that we talked about.

So lets say in theory they could drill right through, what would happen if you jumped into the hole? Would you just float in the centre of the earth?
gordondaviesmoustache said:I've often wondered if there was a hole that went right through the earth and you jumped in it would you slow down as you got to the centre and would gravity hold you in the centre when you got there?

I think you would probably be vaporised by the pressure down there
