Fairer Loyalty Points Scheme?

the thing is it will not make any difference whatsoever the people who are the top of the tree so to speak will stay there because the chances are they attended all these game and got the same 700 points or whatever it is as those who are trying to catch them

if that makes sense

any system just not going please eveyone but
it does need sorting sooner rather than later

Think this might work put coupons in the home program and save them & also collect the front page of the away program......or....just put on open sale first come first serve,,,,

Could work?

What needs sorting with it? Personally I think it is fair and works well. Only reason I made a suggestion with the equivalent points deduction for not going was because a lot of (probably low point holders) arent happy with it. I have got almost 6000 so all the money I have spent over the years will hopefully pay off when I need tickets for cup finals, league deciders etc.

as a system it works you get points for going to games you don't get them for not going simple really

Those people should stay there though. Why shouldnt they? If they have that many points it means they have bought that many tickets, and if they are still attending every game why should they ever lose out? There are enough games that dont sell out to build up your points, if you cant be arsed going to these then you dont deserve a ticket for the swamp or wherever that my be.

-- Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:47 pm --

That was the point I originally made, no one can have any complaints with that and it would encourage more people to attend the cup games through fear of losing points.

I think the current system is the fairest. However it does atom the young ones 16-21 year olds ever accumalating enough points to get to most big away games.

Where I don't think it is fair is I think the supporters clubs get too many tickets for certain away games, especially the swamp. People can join these clubs that have very little or no points and get a ticket. Yet people who have worked hard to get the points won't get a look in. Where's the loyalty there?

On the whole i think it works well as it is, with our away support at the moment, a ST holder can get ticket's for all away games bar the "big 4" and then the one off minnows like Burnley/Blackpool etc

That means you can accrue the points to catch up to the majority, it may just take 4-5 seasons.

That should be ok though, as then you've shown the loyalty to get the big game tickets.

I'm not sure punishing fans long term loyalty to reward short term loyalty is the best idea.

It wouldn't be punishing anyone mate though. Over a ten year period, evryone would have the same chance and any fan that goes the majority over a ten year period is hardly "short term".

Plus those that have shown "long term" loyalty would not lose out so long as they still go.

To catch up at present would cost about £4k per year (inc travelling etc) for 20 years to do all home and aways and slowly catch up by about 100 points per season.
