Fairer Loyalty Points Scheme?

On the whole i think it works well as it is, with our away support at the moment, a ST holder can get ticket's for all away games bar the "big 4" and then the one off minnows like Burnley/Blackpool etc

That means you can accrue the points to catch up to the majority, it may just take 4-5 seasons.

That should be ok though, as then you've shown the loyalty to get the big game tickets.

I'm not sure punishing fans long term loyalty to reward short term loyalty is the best idea.

My thoughts, Exactly.

System is fair to me.... I've always been just out of reach of the tickets for the big games etc, but I've spent the past two years playing catch up, I have only missed about 10 matches home and away for the past two seasons but I've caught up quite a lot with loyalty points, if I carry it on through next season and the one after that I'll be right up there! The system is fair!

You just have to be prepared to be loyal for a good few years before you start getting first dibs on the big tickets! Attending all home games simply isnt enough, the only way to really catch up and accrue points is to start attending away games otherwise you're loyalty can be easily rivalled!!!

It wouldn't be punishing anyone mate though. Over a ten year period, evryone would have the same chance and any fan that goes the majority over a ten year period is hardly "short term".

Plus those that have shown "long term" loyalty would not lose out so long as they still go.

To catch up at present would cost about £4k per year (inc travelling etc) for 20 years to do all home and aways and slowly catch up by about 100 points per season.

True, i'm just thinking in terms of someone who's now late 30's went home and away for 15 years, now because of commitments can only do, say, 80% of games, he might be a bit miffed that he's going down the pecking order.

Although, 10 years is a long time, its not really 'short term' as i suggested earlier... i don't think i'd have any compaint personally if they announced such a scheme.

Easy way to make the loyalty points system fairer and keep it current, whilst allowing newer fans the chance to accrue more points would be to deduct the equivalent points if you choose not to attend. Ie anyone with a customer number that bough their ticket for Notts County gets 50 points, those that dont lose 50, those who renew their season tickets get 200, those that dont lose 200. Means anyone who earned points years ago but stopped going, then came back will have a reduced number of points but those who go to the less glamorous games earn points over those that dont.

Ok, so let me get this straight.

I go to exactly half the league games and exactly half the cup games and at the end of the season I end up with zero points?

And then I miss the first couple of games of the next season coz I'm still on my hols in Ibiza so I end up with minus points?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

People with the name of a fish in their Bluemoon username should have a high priority.
Those with a number in their Bluemoon username should also have a high priority.

The highest priority should go to those with both the name of a fish and a number in their Bluemoon username.

Exactly, until you get to zero and you stay on zero. It will be the same for every other part time fan so will be transparent and fair. Though to be honest, if you havent got a seasoncard youre not gonan be in consideration for any big games anyway so you dont count.

Surely a 10 year rolling system is basically as it is now?!

I reckon 5 years. There's got to be a way of doing it. How do FIFA do the world rankings?!

If the loyalty points system was introduced in 2001 (?) then they'll still be someone who has more points than someone like myself, although they might have been to three away games in the past 4 seasons.

If I could be older, I would be, but I can't change that I didn't get the opportunity to go home and away everyweek til I was 18. One of the bad things about travelling 160 miles to a home game, I guess.

Thats why the points deduction for not attending games will work, it will also affect you if you dont go to the matches. You cant do the 10 year thing cos say I went to every game that year and earnt x amount of points but maybe didnt go to as many the year after, the amount of points you lose would be inconsistant. Simple way - you go to the game and get 50 points, dont go lose 50 points. No one can complain about that.

Depends when you started going, average of 20 points per away game, that's 'only' 180 points a season. Not much and the amount of games you go to, means you'd catch up pretty quickly.
