Silva has played that role a few times for City and more often for Spain.Simple question: Who at City is capable of playing as a false 9?
My list consists of De Bruyne and Nolito. That's it. That's the list. Anyone else?
Bony

I hate the term false 9. Tis bollox. It implies a striker who doesnt score enough goals but gets a free pass to stay in the team.
A forward that plays behind a striker and is more involved in link up play may be called a No 10 and that i get as that is a genuine position but what the F is a false No9?
The reason he came on to try it methinks.Nasri
The first false 9 I ever known was called Lionel Messi and he used to score goals like a machine. I agree since then the term has been ballsed up but Guardiolas definition was very differentI hate the term false 9. Tis bollox. The point of a false 9 is that he plays further away from the opponent's goal than a regular 9. He essentially occupies the same space a no.10 would in a 4-2-3-1, but because there's no central player closer to the opponent's goal, it gives the centre backs a problem. Do they hold their usual line but have no-one to mark, allowing their opponents superiority in midfield, or do they follow the false 9 higher up the pitch, into an area they're uncomfortable in, leaving gaps behind for the wingers/other midfielders to break into?I hate the term false 9.
