There was a guy called Barney on last week after we beat Spurs 6-0 saying we need to play the kids rather than the players that were playing! When asked what would make him happy even after beating Spurs 6-0, he genuinely said "We could've played the kids"

Erm....

I heard that cock end too. And a woman whinging about substituting aguero and negredo when it was blatantly obvious they were being rested.

Just so you know, that wasn't bloody me ! ;)

I know, Bob. You put me straight on that one!

Might be a good choice, but Gleghorn will take some following in that job. He was superb in my view and i'm looking forward to seeing what he does with our lads. With his insight I can see him ending up managing a first team somewhere - maybe us?

Lakey's done it before I seem to remember but wasn't brilliant. Nowhere near gleghorn's level of analysis. But he does do that 'blue Tuesday' show so would be the obvious choice . From what I've heard of Andy hinchcliffe he'd be better, but I suspect he has other commitments. Struggling to think of other ex-blues trying to get a foothold in the media.

Wouldn't Lake's current job prevent him doing it?

Yes Lakey's current job would prevent him, but having listened to Ian Brightwell and RIchard Edgehill tonight at the Eccles OSC meeting either of those would do a good job I would think. They both did very well, Ian just has the edge (no pun intended!)

Anyone else also noticed how they always read a text out from "Big P Dawg and Pusha T" or something?

Always cringe at Gleghorn. Last season a guy rang up and asked him why the bloody hell he's being called a city legend after being there for about 30 games, GMR just hung up on him - best piece of radio i've ever heard.
No, this is - <a class="postlink" href="http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8LbR_cYhT6Q" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8LbR_cYhT6Q</a>

Absolutely hilarious!!!

I missed yesterday's game due to having to put up Xmas decorations on my roof.

He was only outdone by the plum at the game who took part in the pre-match quiz - had to name as many ex City players as possible in 30 secs and only managed 3??!!!!

Where are these fans coming from??!!

Whoever he is has had nowhere near enough stick

Best one last night was the guy who didn't go to the match because he was putting Xmas decorations up on his roof! I'm sure he was fully concentrating on the commentary enough to have an informed opinion on the match!

that **** is always on one radio channel or another spouting off, "i didnt go to the match i was putting up christmas tree light"

fuck off you wanker

I was told last night he`s called Sucky and lives on Meadow Gate in Salford and never been to a game in his life.

That fucks my theory right off, I thought it was Pige

How about Paul Dickov? He's available & a great lad. Lakey would've been far too diplomatic. Not sure about Bobby or Edgehill...
Edit: Don't be a knob - he's manager of Doncaster!
Err - Bobby Brightwell would be perfect!

I think they need some one to argue back with the callers, I can't remember them actually telling the bloke moaning about the defence, that we had kept a clean sheet for the last two games

WTF is this about?

Seem to have been more and more of them of late on GMR , "No I didn't see the game, listened to the commentary and so and so sounded awful"

How on earth are you in a position to comment on the team/individuals performance if you've not even seen it?

Stop calling, you are making idiots of yourselves! Or can GMR /5 live whoever screen callers and make sure first that they've actually SEEN the game and therefore are well placed to form an opinion?

to be fair, even people who have attended the match aren't always equipped to comment on it

- football supporters.. what do you expect?

;o)

Good point, well made.

I could've sworn I heard a large majority of people shout for offside when we played Spurs and they took a throw in into the channels

Nigel fucking gleghorn??? I've heard it all now........ His knowledge is shite over the radio, navas knows what its like in the flesh -personally I think he's an inept Kunt, that 25/30 minute drive home after the game is like pulling teeth with him and those callers....... still listen though!!!!!
He only played 1 season for City Gleghorn . I would hardly say he was a City legend . Fred Eyre is a better pundit on City than Gleghorn . I think Pam on here goes on the phone in after the match . Your right about his knowledge, it is pretty poor in my book .

Fred is so miserable - hate listening to hime

I thought Dickov was Doncaster manager...I think he may struggle to make the match day commentary bit

its the same people who called the golden shot from the local phone box

Thanks to everyone who replied to this post. Genuinely you really made me laugh regaling some of your tales.

Driving home after a game it's a tough choice between Gleghorn on BBC Radio Manchester and 5Live with Green or Lawrenson or one of those other sarcastic wankers. Can't say I find Gleghorn insightful or knowledgeable at all though he doesn't take himself too seriously I guess (when you've only played 30 games though that's to be expected). More worried about him now running the U14s to be honest.

Typical BBC Radio Manc caller always starts with "I've been watching City for 60 years..." and then normally proceeds to embarrass themself by moaning on and on. The callers after the Spurs 6-0 were all moaning idiots and that shows host, Jack Dearden, was amazed at the negativity from virtual every caller. By the end it was getting ridiculous. Used to enjoy listening to a caller called Joy (from Cheadle, I think) but haven't heard her for a while. She was always positive and knew her stuff too !
