Note the totally biased commentary from Martin Tyler including an “oh no!” when Bradford nearly score.
I was in that stand with my brothers. Bought tickets off a tout at Victoria Station in the morning. The Bradford fans around us were great that day.I remember him running on I was in the stand rebuilt after the fire at the side of the pitch.
We were together mate- bottom right hand corner of the Kop as you look at it from the pitch? There was another group of blues at the back too and it kicked off up there. They ended up opening the gate at the end and as we all streamed on the pitch there was a crush when everyone at the front fell for a second. I pulled a lad out and I’ll never forget the fear in his eyes because Hillsbrough had just happened. What a day that was got to the ground at 10am no-one around climbed over the wall at there end hid in the bogs about an hour later 2 lads turned up did the same stood in bogs chatting unfortunately someone saw the lads climb over and sent stewards and a copper to look for them we hid in a cubicle but got found and thrown out, if I remember right the police put a ring around the ground to stop city fans with no tickets luckily I was within that I gave a Bradford fan £15 for his season ticket ( last game ) he thought he had won the lottery it was in there end there was 100s of us in the bottom corner, the game was very tense after we scored it went nuts climbed over the fence at full time to celebrate with the team, fantastic memories, I have all the history I need.
Yes, they couldn't keep the fence gates locked after Hillsborough, that's how most of us got on from the away end. Great day, especially with the added tension from the Palace scoreline. My biggest worry was I'd booked a two week holiday in Italy that coincided with the play-offs, being confident that we'd go up automatically! We were together mate- bottom right hand corner of the Kop as you look at it from the pitch? You’re right. This was a month after Hillsborough and they must have immediately declared that all gates must be left open. I can remember the fans opened them though, at the kop end and that’s what caused the collapse I referred to. At first people, including me, were climbing over.Yes, they couldn't keep the fence gates locked after Hillsborough, that's how most of us got on from the away end. He only goes to games in December, mainly boxing day.I've always wondered about the long haired lad instantly named Jesus, who ran on the pitch telling the players (incorrectly) that Palace were winning 5-0.
I was among the many in Albert Square at midnight celebrating and he appeared and was carried shoulder height around the square to the chant of "we love you Jesus, we do...."
Never saw him after that at any other game!
Wasn’t the same lad half way up one of the monuments in Albert square later that night?I've always wondered about the long haired lad instantly named Jesus, who ran on the pitch telling the players (incorrectly) that Palace were winning 5-0.
