Fans on the pitch at Bradford 1989 pictures

I bought a ticket off a tout outside Maine road before the Bournemouth game the week before. Got it for a decent price as everybody assumed we would be promoted that day and it would be a dead rubber at Bradford

A couple of my mates drove over to Bradford a few days before and slipped a few quid to a local to buy them tickets from the ticket office. Presumably you had to prove you had a local address

My dads cousin lived(s) within the BD postcode and he got us tickets in the bradford main stand, he had to take a gas bill!

What a day that was got to the ground at 10am no-one around climbed over the wall at there end hid in the bogs about an hour later 2 lads turned up did the same stood in bogs chatting unfortunately someone saw the lads climb over and sent stewards and a copper to look for them we hid in a cubicle but got found and thrown out, if I remember right the police put a ring around the ground to stop city fans with no tickets luckily I was within that I gave a Bradford fan £15 for his season ticket ( last game ) he thought he had won the lottery it was in there end there was 100s of us in the bottom corner, the game was very tense after we scored it went nuts climbed over the fence at full time to celebrate with the team, fantastic memories, I have all the history I need.
I was in that bottom corner too with my sister. She got us the tickets off some mate she knew in Bradford. Loads of Blues in there and no mither. I got over the fence and in the pitch. Wasn’t easy as the fence had a twirly spike on the top! Was also at Notts County the week before when I witnessed City fans trying to tear down their fences but that’s a different story altogether.

That’s a different season, never mind story!

I was at Huddersfield Poly. I got the bus to Bradford the week before and produced my student union card and a gas bill with an HD post code. I even practiced a Yorkshire accent. This threw them. When the girl eventually talked to her boss and said “OK, we’ll accept it” I said “I’ll have six tickets please” and she went “You must be joking, you can have one” and that’s how I got in.

I remember reading about some City fans going to the ticket office at the Britannia to buy tickets in the home end for our final game of the 1997/8 season and blowing their cover by trying to buy tickets for ‘the Stoke game’!

Possibly easier to get Stoke tickets, though Stoke has a strong distinctive accent they have a lot of fans in Cheshire as we do so could get away with a cash payment at their ticket office.
