FAO the Club, I know you read this site

I havnt bothered with food or drink at half-time for many years now, its a mission just to get a piss in without trying to negotiate the catering gauntlet for a £4 beer.

Funny, i uesd to moan at the Maine Rd catering but the staff there shifted many more pies/drink per head than the current crew do.

We have the technology to put money onto your ST, CC or AC, install vending machines selling plastic bottles of beer at various locations round the ground, if you have a junior ticket then you cant get served, if your ticket is for an adult and you have the dosh on your card then it is a simple effort to insert your card press a couple of buttons and take your beer while the pooter deducts the amount from your account.
If a steward sees you giving beer to a junior you get your card cancelled.
Use the same for coffee, tea and even bovril or soup.

Not sure if it would work as well for hot food though

I have an idea you may want to think about. We have a problem at City and that is that a portion of the fans leave around 7 minutes before half time to beat the deadly queues for beer and snacks and this looks pathetic on the telly to be honest. As I am sure these people would prefer to see the whole half and get their beer I have a nice idea, something that I picked up in a Spanish Burger king.

Basically what the club should think about doing if they want to speed up serving times is this. Burger king at pub kicking out time in Spain replace their front doors with a big cabinet of small accesable booths with burgers ect inside. Each booth has a coin mechanism and once you have put enough money in you get access to the booths. These booths can be refilled from behind, constantly meaning the customers keep coming. Obviously if the club get enough of these booth walls and make sure they are full ready for half time the fans will be happy at less queues and the club get a higher turnover. Everybodies happy.

On a side note, what is the point in getting Hollands in to do their pies if the best flavour is unavailable. Get it sorted and introduce Chicken and Mushroom.
you have just made me hungry now, thanks a lot.

Would make a lot of sense - you'd assume it would pay for itself with extra sales too and could be trialled quickly with tokens bought in advance if cards were too complex. They could be filled a lot faster than people are served as the delays are the communication/dithering of customers, adding up cash and prepping food to order. Vending means all the sellers would be doing is refilling any gaps so much quicker for them.

Beer is almost pointless at half time as you're spedning most of the break getting served. Food queues are even worse and, unless you're someone who thinks it's more important to have a pie than actually watch the game you'll be in a queue which lasts most or all of half time.

Have to agree that the only issue I have with the matchday experience is the catering at the stadium. The beer is poor and expensive the food is OK but expensive. If City can get this area right ie good prices adn good quality then I think more people will get to the ground earlier as there wont be the need to drink in pubs beforehand

Until they come up with some sort of compromise with regard to the draconian blanket smoking ban, people wont go to the ground much earlier.
Even a lot of the non smokers go to games with people that do smoke so go to the Townley, Mary D's etc where they can have a pint or three and nip outside for a tab when they feel like and go to the ground about 10 - 15 minuts before the game starts.
I know tat while the council own the ground there is little the club can do about this, but if clubs like Derby County can organise fenced off outdoor smoking areas for away fans at half time then there is no reason why the club and council cannot get together and arrange some sort of area for those addicted to nicoteen, leaving the bogs "clean" for those that wish to have a piss or a line of coke.

At our last match vs Stoke three of us were drinking. Seven pints were pulled of bitter and lager and four were returned as they were absolutely foul.

Someone off here had a meeting with the catering management at CoMS and were shown the facilities, or the lack of, that they had to work with.
The solution of getting served a beer to me is simple. Have only one type of beer on draught and introduce the multi pint dispensers.
Also, introduce card only payment so no change has to be given
