Favourite Beer

Slightly off topic but for a non alcoholic beer (and believe me I love a proper pint of anything from a dark mild, ruby beer up to a nice Staropramen lager) Adnams Ghost Ship is as close to a hoppy beer as you can get. Can't take the ale as much as I get older, need a break here and there and this is a good school night drink, kind of beer methadone.

I'll try a bottle or two, and will return to ridicule you if it is not as you say :-)

I tried a St Bernardus set a few months back. If I am honest I mainly bought it for the nice glass but it was also nice to try some of their weaker drinks. My first St Bernardus experience was at the very top and turned me into a shivering wreck the next day.
The blue label is 10% and not to be taken lightly. It had me throwing up mint sauce when I hadn't eaten any.

It has to be said that the unfortunately now over-popular Old Speckled Hen is a truly marvellous pint when served on draught. Ditto Abbott Ale.

Incidentally both of which are far better in cans than in bottle, if you're drinking them at home.

Fullers Golden Pride.
Ah, proper falling over beer. Me and my mates in London used to go on benders drinking pints of ESB / Golden Pride mix. (That was when ESB was 1058 OG - circa 6% - before they toned it down). 5 or 6 pints of that would usually result in me waking up and not knowing where I was or how I got there.
