Favourite City game.....they didn’t win !

Friendly game at Barrow AFC in the 80’s. City came to Barrow a couple of times for friendlies/testimonials when I was a kid but this game in the 80’s was special. The small ground was rammed and it was bouncing compared to usual games. Dennis Tueart scored a beautiful lob just passed the half way line to go 2-1 up and the whole ground applauded. Then a Barrow defender ran passed about 3 players and scored a screamer for 2-2. After the game I ran on the pitch and shook loads of City players hands before a steward chased me off. Great night for a young city fan.

The second half of the FA Cup third round against United in 2012 sticks in the mind. Although we lost, we had come back from 3-0 to 3-2 with 10 men after Kompany's controversial red card. The team got applauded off that day in spite of the defeat. Had the game gone on a few more minutes I'm sure we'd have won.

Against Arsenal Friday night I think. We were 4 down in 30 mins City fans in good voice even Arse fans were enjoying the game. They took over Henry and brought on Bergkamp FFS

Notts County away in the 85 promotion season. We took in excess of 10000 and were allocate some of the home sections for the game as we could've secured promotion that day. In the seated section there were fans singing the "laughing policeman" song to the local constabulary and in true City fashion we were somehow 3-0 down at half time to a struggling County side. Second half we got it back to 3-2 but it wasn't to be, so it went to the final game of the season at home to Charlton. Great memories.

You’re right it was a cracking game.
If I remember correctly the atmosphere amongst the City fans got a bit tasty at the half with some fans trying to get into the dressing room to vent their displeasure. Seemed to work as we were much improved second half with 2 goals from Simpson.
Could have got the win with a bit of luck.
Terrific atmosphere from a very big blue following.
Fences prevented a pitch invasion at half time.

A couple of games against the Geordies spring to mind

3-3 at Maine Road. A classic when Newcastle were good

And losing 1-0 in the cup at Sid James. They had a pretty decent team and we were in the second tier under Keegan, but we played them off the park

Losing 2-5 to Leeds at Maine Road in the FA Cup, 99/00.

Took the lead twice but eventually comfortably beaten by what was then a good team.

oooo that was a good one. They might be derty bastard Leeds but that late 90s side was exciting. Weirdly i think their squad got a little better but in 02/03 they just popped. goodbye Leeds.

For games I was at, probably the Villa away game in the Cup with the late Micah goal.

Atmosphere amazing throughout, but by the end it was verging upon frenzied desperation being behind in a game we'd utterly dominated.

'Scenes' and 'limbs' are the words now used to describe the 2-3 minutes after the goal. Absolute bedlam with people ending up miles away from their seats. Brilliant.
