Favourite City game.....they didn’t win !

As mentioned, the 2-3 rags cup game.

But also City 0 - 1 Bolton for comedy value. Only City could hit the bar so many times and lose to a last minute pen.

1-1 at Blackpool in the cup

Lakey’s crazy last minute equaliser

1-1 at Villa when Micah scored the late late leveller
Was at Blackpool for cup tie.mental..incredible atmosphere...i think you,d call it 'raw'

Forgot all about villa and micah..id left 2 mins early to try and beat the crush at witton station.....missed the goal!! Mass celebration with other blues outside villa park..danced a jig of delight....and got caught in the crush at the station.incidentally,it was that match where some of us behind the goal made an unscheduled appearance in the Villa board/trophy room...a door just swung open at half time (i think) behind the stands..and loads of us literrally fell into a room we were definatley not supposed to be in......there was a 'refreshment 'fridge padlocked in the corner......it took someone 15 seconds to get it off and we enjoyed free ice cold beer .......think this was also the match when Micah swore in his live post match interview...[/QUOTE]

How about Palace away, May 1990?
Baking hot
Blues brothers
2 nil down to draw 2 all
City lads on the pitch at HT waving a banner saying "good luck at Wembley" as they played that lot in the FA Cup Final the week after

For comedy value:

First game of the season against Leeds. Completely outplayed, similar to what Peps city side does to teams, before taking the lead through Gary Flitcroft (had a bet on him as first scorer) before in typical City fashion grabbing a draw from the jaws of victory right at the death. Just knew walking away it was going to be another comical season.

The one all draw at Bradford which clinched promotion in 1989. As a 13 year old, relying on the radio coverage, it was such an amazing feeling when Morley equalised.

think it's been mentioned but the 0-1 at home to Bolton, utter disbelief at hitting the woodwork 6 times (twice with one effort) and other missed chances. Then they potter up the other end in injury time and get a (deserved) penalty off Dunne, Speed (RIP) hits the winner! Real cliche film stuff, but in painful real life.

Man City: James, Mills, Dunne, Distin, Thatcher, Sinclair (Jihai 26), Barton (Ireland 81), Reyna, Musampa, Sibierski, Vassell.
Subs Not Used: Fowler, Onuoha, De Vlieger.

Leeds v City FA Cup 6th round 1967. It was the first game Joe and Malcolm experimented playing all out attacking football. They absolutely battered hot favourites Leeds who only won 1-0 by Jack Charlton fouling Harry Dowd when he scored. I remember a reporter praising City to the rooftops and saying "Lucky, lucky Leeds". A disappointing defeat on the day but little did we know that this game was the catalyst for the fantastic title winning season of 1967-68.

Friendly game at Barrow AFC in the 80’s. City came to Barrow a couple of times for friendlies/testimonials when I was a kid but this game in the 80’s was special. The small ground was rammed and it was bouncing compared to usual games. Dennis Tueart scored a beautiful lob just passed the half way line to go 2-1 up and the whole ground applauded. Then a Barrow defender ran passed about 3 players and scored a screamer for 2-2. After the game I ran on the pitch and shook loads of City players hands before a steward chased me off. Great night for a young city fan.

The second half of the FA Cup third round against United in 2012 sticks in the mind. Although we lost, we had come back from 3-0 to 3-2 with 10 men after Kompany's controversial red card. The team got applauded off that day in spite of the defeat. Had the game gone on a few more minutes I'm sure we'd have won.

Against Arsenal Friday night I think. We were 4 down in 30 mins City fans in good voice even Arse fans were enjoying the game. They took over Henry and brought on Bergkamp FFS

Notts County away in the 85 promotion season. We took in excess of 10000 and were allocate some of the home sections for the game as we could've secured promotion that day. In the seated section there were fans singing the "laughing policeman" song to the local constabulary and in true City fashion we were somehow 3-0 down at half time to a struggling County side. Second half we got it back to 3-2 but it wasn't to be, so it went to the final game of the season at home to Charlton. Great memories.

You’re right it was a cracking game.
If I remember correctly the atmosphere amongst the City fans got a bit tasty at the half with some fans trying to get into the dressing room to vent their displeasure. Seemed to work as we were much improved second half with 2 goals from Simpson.
Could have got the win with a bit of luck.
Terrific atmosphere from a very big blue following.
Fences prevented a pitch invasion at half time.

A couple of games against the Geordies spring to mind

3-3 at Maine Road. A classic when Newcastle were good

And losing 1-0 in the cup at Sid James. They had a pretty decent team and we were in the second tier under Keegan, but we played them off the park

Losing 2-5 to Leeds at Maine Road in the FA Cup, 99/00.

Took the lead twice but eventually comfortably beaten by what was then a good team.

oooo that was a good one. They might be derty bastard Leeds but that late 90s side was exciting. Weirdly i think their squad got a little better but in 02/03 they just popped. goodbye Leeds.

For games I was at, probably the Villa away game in the Cup with the late Micah goal.

Atmosphere amazing throughout, but by the end it was verging upon frenzied desperation being behind in a game we'd utterly dominated.

'Scenes' and 'limbs' are the words now used to describe the 2-3 minutes after the goal. Absolute bedlam with people ending up miles away from their seats. Brilliant.
