Favourite city managers

I can't believe the number of posters that are excluding Joe Royle from their lists.

He played for us, turned the club around; gave us one of our ever greatest moments; bought, stood by and nurtured a genuine club icon in the Goat; left the club in a much better state than he found it and has never slagged the club or its supporters off.

I also feel he appreciated what makes this club and its supporters tick far more than some of the other managers that are being advanced.
Never slagged us, just took us to court and sued us hmmm
He was perfectly entitled to enforce the contract as he saw fit. Any sane person would do the same if they felt a term of their employment contract wasn't being honoured by their employer. If you feel differently then I would suggest you've been exploited over the years. If anything it adds weight to what I've said, because in spite of that, as far as I'm aware, he's only ever said good things about the fans and the club (apart from its hierarchy at the time, I'll concede).

My point remains.

Mancini in my lifetime followed by Tony Book. Mancini never kow towed to no fucker especially the pissed up lieing twat of a manager at O/T infact i think he relished taking him on and whipping the senile bastard at every opportunity. Won us trophies something i only evet dreamt of for 30 odd years. Won us a title in the greatest ever way possible and i doubt ever to be beaten. A manager that from day one outlined his philosophy, if your not mentally strong enough (and thats every bit as important) then your out. I wish to god we had the bollocks to stand by him give him 90m to spend on his players and not sinclair/garcia shit. I wish to god the board would have said ok if your not buying into this then fuck off elsewhere for lower wages less chance of success but at least your fragile egos will be entact. Forza Mancini!

This. And once again THIS!

1 Joe Mercer true gentleman and won trophies playing great football
2 Mancini never thought i'd see anything like that league title winning day (should have got at least another 12 months)
3 Tony Book, another gent who had us playing decent stuff and won us our last trophy until we were mega rich
4 Joe Royle wasn't going to make it at the highest level with fund's available but pulled us back from the brink.
5 Mark Hughes Contentious one but for me set us on road to being noticed and some of the football was exciting as hell Bolton away what a fantastic game of football.

Worst
1 Alan Ball
2 Coppell
3 Frank Clarke
4 Pierce
5 John Bond

During my lifetime, Horton was the first Manager I can remember. So pretty slim pickings until 1998!

Joe Royle - who all city fans are eternally grateful for dragging the club out of its darkest hour.
Bobby Manc goes without saying
Sven gets a heads up from me too because of the double derby win and giving the club (then) the highest finish in my supporting lifetime.

Frank Clarke less said, the better

Sir Joe Mercer - a true gent. The first City manager I can remember and what a fantastic six-year period in our history.

Tony Book - always courteous when we've spoken to him and we were consistently in the upper reaches of the First Division and qualified for Europe regularly under him.

Brian Horton - he brought us some wonderfully exciting football and another gent.

Joe Royle - brought us back from the brink of disaster.

Roberto Mancini - FA Cup, Premier League and Community Shield. Nothing more needs to be said.

You can hold him in high esteem but I have a little resentment over that incident and am glad a judge saw fit to reverse the decision and tell him to sling it ! For me Joe Royal can Royally Fook off ;)
